I've been in touch with Anya throughout her 'fertility' career (she trained as a coach with Powerchange) and am regularly impressed with her knowledge. The media are too - Anya is a highly skilled coach and has written widely in magazines and national newspapers.
Buy the book and you'll love the read, but more than that you'll begin to feel different: supported, back in control, stronger, hopeful. Fertile Thinking produces just that: fertile thinking. It's a 'must-have' for those going through the fertility treatment process, and an enlightening book for all those who have anything to do with women's health.
However this book is not like the others, firstly the author Anya Sizer and her husband actually went through infertility themselves. For me, this is what helped me the most - they weren't journalists writing a book but more like their experiences.
Her techniques are profoundly useful and based on actual counselling methods. There is a section for men both who are suffers themselves or supporting their partner.
I found the exercises were invaluable, in particular I have found the three question technique a useful method of protecting yourself during this nightmare you are experiencing.
Because the author has been through IVF - she has written in book with a personal spin on it, making it the perfect book for anyone starting at the beginning or about to start IVF (or IUI)
A direct and clear style, case studies and a good deal of practical advice and support make this a very readable book; the love and encouragement in its pages make it inspirational. Nadine Cartner
