The series is a little variable..there is no doubt that the best episodes are the early ones on disc one.
It is still worth buying though...
In fact this series is so bad in every department it was probably the kiss of death for the acting careers of the otherwise fine 4C actors. Not their fault - what could they do with shockingly bad scripts and dialogue? two other major factors in its awfulness were the inclusion of carol hawkins as sharon and leon vitali standing in for much of the series for malcolm mcfee as peter craven. I liked hawkins in the carry on films but she is pretty ropey here - not a patch on penny spencer the original sharon. Vitali (wonderful in 'barry lyndon') is the holder of one of the worst 'cockney' accents every comitted to film. A terrible peice of casting
A dreadful, dreadful mess. Not funny at all. Cringeworthy in fact. I would suggest to anyone curious to bypass this tripe and go for the original 'please sir' series instead which is great (especially the later episodes)

Ths is typical of the 70s style of sitcom and I'd forgotten how bad it was. They should have stopped after doing Please Sir for far too many series.Published on 30 Jan. 2014 by ROCA
