I've used various different amps, but I don't think that I have ever used one that has as many settings as this one. There are vast options for the different sounds you could have on your instrument. I thought it would be a bit difficult to get my head around when I first opened it, but after reading the instructions (which are really easy to understand, and include main languages) I felt like I'd owned it for years! If you download the fender fuse app on mac (not sure whether it's on PC or not), then it opens up a whole variety of new options and settings for the sound.
Would 100% recommend this product, definitely the best amplifier I have used.
The Fender fuse software, which is pretty much an essential part of using this amp, is a disaster:
1. It is a whole world to figure out how to install it. Installation is nightmarish and unreliable. After an afternoon spent registering, figuring out, installing, troubleshooting, uninstalling, reinstalling.... I ended up having to install it under another user account on my computer to make it work (new machine, mac OS 10.12.3).
2. The software blinks all the time when I use it.
3. The interface is not intuitive when it comes to saving your presets to the computer or to the amp.
Shame on Fender for such a crap piece of software! Very user unfriendly. I almost got to the point of sending the amp back because I could not make Fender Fuse work. Once finally installed it does not crash and does the job. The sound effects and amp settings part of the interface is WYSIWYG and easy to use.
The amp is very versatile. I am no specialist in sound, but it is fun and enjoyable to play with. Plenty loud for a room. I have used it for over 2 months now with my fender stratocaster, and it does exactly what I expected as an intermediate level player: a quick set up and nice variety of sounds to practise. I am happy with this amp.
If you're into straight metal it's great, and the 4 Fender amp models are authentic, but most of the patches need tweaking to sound good.
I don't see it as good for beginners - it's too complicated, and the on-line editing software needs a certain amount of computer literacy, as well as a knowledge of guitar effects.
What I really don't like about it is the effects section on the amp - there's too much repetition of what is essentially the same effect, and no control over the degree - they're basically on or off and of course they're pretty over the top and so they tend to swamp the sound even when you want to be subtle.
I was particularly disappointed with the pitch shifting - I wanted 'octave up' but it's not selectable, and I don't like the two they've chosen to include.
It doesn't take pedals well, and I also think they should have included a drum machine, so it has it's uses and I'm keeping it for what it's good at, but it doesn't do everything so it's not the only practice amp I need.
