'Packed with fresh, irresistible makes for crafting addicts.' --Mollie Makes, issue 27 (10th May 2013)

'Felt is such a versatile material it attracts most crafters and this book, though intended for beginners, has a well-chosen selection of projects to appeal to all levels. There's a great how-to section that takes you through sewing basics and types of felt, and then it's on to the makes. From cute clowns and fun baubles that require no, or very little, sewing - perfect for children making their first forays with a needle - to a sophisticated iPad case and some charming egg cosies, there's a pattern here to hook you.' --Handmade Living, issue 24 (June 2013)

I really like this book. There are some lovely original ideas but also some new takes on older ideas. The book is split into three sections: Gifts; Decorations and For the Home. Gifts include mainly items suitable for babies/small children, such as an apple shaped rattle, woodland finger puppets, beautiful dolls, an elephant mobile (very pretty) and my personal favourite, the winged slippers. These are baby shoes which the author has made in thick white felt with felt "wings" on the side, embroidered in gold. They are really beautiful and would make a nice gift to give for a new baby, both for wear and for display.
The Decorations section includes items such as a flower wreath, autumn garland, hanging bluebirds and my personal favourite in this section - felt baubles. These are made 3D and give the effect of the vintage paper honeycomb decorations, but in felt. They look impressive enough to be given as a gift but they could be made by beginners or experienced crafters alike.
The For the Home section concentrates on cushions, doorstops, coasters and a tablet case amongst other items. I really like the scallop cushion.
All in all there are lots of things I would like to make from this book and I am pleased I bought it.

When most people think of felt, they imagine `fuzzy felts', those brightly coloured felt shapes that you play with when you're little. Maybe people need to think again!
This is a book of stylish and quirky felt designs inspired by Christine Leech's travels to Japan and Finland. It features gift ideas, toys, items for the home and seasonal projects and is just brilliant.
`Felt' explains Leech `is so easy to work with. It doesn't stretch or fray and as a novice sewer, you really can't go wrong with it.' You may never have considered felt crafting before, you might have dismissed it completely, but reading this book, you'll see that felt can be delicate, artistic and beautiful.
The first section of this book describes the basic skills you will need to tackle the projects. the projects are surprisingly diverse and many would work well as gifts for adults and children.
The best part? You won't need much equipment or even much felt to produce these items.
Altogether a great book for crafters of any level.
Love Rachel x
