Having been most satisfied with the Fellowes A3 Laminator, I thought this would be just the job for all my display work. Unfortunately, from the moment it came out of the box, this trimmer was very disappointing. Firstly, the battery is extremely fiddly to fit, then the LED guide light is temperamental to say the least and pretty useless. The cutting blade depends on the pressure applied and can leave even a single sheet partially uncut. The paper size guides are on the right, rather than the left where the paper fits snugly against the side, so unless you press down hard on the paper, it can move with the cutter. The whole trimmer feels cheap and unstable.

I decided to buy this for neatly presenting my graphics coursework. I thought it had a lot to offer but I soon realised that the quality of cutting wasn't good at all. Due to the wobble of the rotary blade it didn't produce straight cuts no matter what pressure you applied. Also, the LED 'laser' broke within 5 minutes of using it. I suppose its better suited for tasks that don't require neatness and precision. The extra cutting blades were a nice added feature although I have never found a use for them.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
OK so to date this product has had fairly unhappy reviews. My other half had unwrapped it and had been happily playing with the different cartridges, producing straight and wavy cuts, perforations and scoring. There's a useful protractor like bit so you can also cut at angles. He eagerly demonstrated how wonderful it was like a sous chef.

On MY first go I did produce a duff portion of cut. This was rectified by standing over the cutter and applying firm even pressure. So your choice is whether you want a safety cutter (with the pretty alternative cartridges)or the traditional slicing wheel (always been wary of the scary guillotines, myself). When I've owned the trad version in the past, there's always been some cuts which didn't quite work at the end of the travel.

Can't quite see the point of the light, which is powered by a cell battery. You can turn it off.

Dear; oh, dear!

I have used many rotary trimmers at work, over the years, and had been waiting for the right time to buy a trimmer (for home use) that was both functional and good value for money. When the Fellowes 5410401 Small Office Rolling Paper Cutter Electron A4 Black/Metal appeared on a Lightning Deal, I thought it worth a punt - especially as I had £20 in Amazon vouchers sitting burning a hole in my pocket! The Electron arrived in good time, but was just sent through the post in its retail box with a label stuck on, rather than in protective outer packaging.

Opening the box, I was initially pleased with what I saw, but this soon faded to frustration and even annoyance when using the Electron to cut even single sheets of A4 paper: the red LED is purely a gimmick (and a pretty poor one at that), delivering a fuzzy red splash of light that is neither use nor ornament. The trimmer handle is flimsy and difficult to control, making it awkward to cut accurately - especially towards the end of its travel: nine out of ten cuts will leave a curved or ragged edge at the far end. Perhaps firm and even pressure is the answer, but that is seriously hampered by the rocky handle.

I'll give this a few more tries but, at the moment, I think it's going back to Amazon - and I'll keep looking...

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
I found this product difficult to use. I don't have the daintiest of touches and I found it difficult to maintain the correct pressure to get a good cut. I have used Fellowes products before and generally never had reason to complain, but this product was a disappointment.
