Product Description

Product Description

The Felco Model 2 Secateurs are the original secateurs.

It has many high quality features including solid forged metal alloy handles that are both light and strong. The Swiss precision made cutting blades are replaceable as they are not riveted and the wire cutting notch ensures they are not damaged during use.

The anvil blade has a sap groove which aids the removal of sap debris when cutting softer stems and prevents the blades sticking together.
A hardened steel center bolt and nut assure exact adjustment of both the cutting and anvil blades.

In addition, the Felco Model 2 Secateurs are ergonomic and easy to use; the handles are forged in high strength light aluminium alloy, with the distinctive Felco red covering for a comfortable grip.
The rubber cushion acts as a shock absorber providing smooth working and soft closing with every cut.

Lastly the safety catch ensures that the secateurs remain safely closed when not in use.

Length. 21.5cm.

Felco claim that their Secateurs are recognised as the finest in the world by horticulturists, professional growers and discerning gardeners in more than 80 countries. Every Felco secateur is subjected to more than 100 quality control processes before leaving the manufacturer.

I have heavily overused my Felco secateur for more than two years now, and I am very impressed. It easily cuts through everything, and I mean cuts, not crushes through most branches and twigs, even old dried ones. Several other secateurs crushes fragile branches like roses and others, but this one cuts through clean and fine. This somehow has to do with the way the edge are shaped, and the blades move against eachother. Just perfect. I confess having used it on heavier jobs than it is intended to manage, where I obviously should have brought my saw instead. This tool is very forgiving, and has never given up.
This secateur will fit both small and large hands, and gives me a perfect controllable grip.
Every part is changeable, even if I havent done this yet. But nice just in case. Highly recommended tool!

I've only had this product for a week so I can't comment on its longevity. However, it's beautifully finished and a pleasure to use, and it cuts cleanly. It wasn't quite so good with some of the thicker dried twigs that I tried it out on (once or twice I found myself having to twist to finish the cut) but it was perfect for roses, and I bought it specifically for roses so I'm pleased with it. My experiences with cheaper secateurs over the years have been disappointing - some of them don't even cut cleanly through the stems of bought flowers. My prediction is that this product will give many years of good service.

Comment added 1st August 2013 - I've now been using these secateurs for two years and they're still as good as new
Comment added 24th August 2015 - Four years on. They remain in superb condition.

These are just great, good clean cut up to 20mm more if you have strong hands. Very comfortable to use and great value on amazon compared with garden centres. Delivery was free and they arrived the day after I had ordered them

Hi. I earn my living strimming and mowing lawns, trimming hedges, weeding borders etc. Obviously I need a decent pair of secateurs. I had gone through a few pairs but then a professional gardener I know, recommended Felco and the way these are performing they'll last me an awful long time.

Best pair of secateurs I've ever had. I'm 66 years old now and probably had 5 pairs over the years. Wish I'd known about these earlier! So efficient and so comfortable.

I'm a professional gardener who trained exclusively on Felco secateurs. I remember at horticultural college being underwhelmed with their performance so once I started my own business I bought everything other than Felcos which I deemed were vastly overrated and expensive. Anyway to cut a long story short after losing my pair of Wilkinson Sword Classic's (old style, no longer made) in a client's pond, I thought I'd try some Felco No.2's again. Oh dear, I wish I hadn't. Cutting power is poor through anything larger than the smallest stems (25mm diameter cutting capability - eh?), catch is fiddly and blades get clogged up with sap making them stick (at college we were taught that Felcos, in addition to regular sharpening and oiling, need to be periodically spat on to keep them moving freely!). I returned the secateurs and Amazon kindly refunded me.

The drop blade Felco No.8's are much better than the straight blade No.2's but the secateurs I currently use are the Japanese-made Okatsune No.103's (Monty Don gave me the heads up!). Simple robust design, razor-sharp Samurai steel, strong catch and sap free. If you've large hands or want secateurs with similar dimensions to Felco No.2's you may prefer the Okatsune No.104's. I hope this helps and my apologies to the Felco appreciation society! (three hundred 5* reviews and counting!?)

I have been using Felco secateurs since the 1990's following my horticultural qualification as I had noticed that all the professionals were using them. They are not cheap but then you are paying for quality and should last for years. I particulary like the fact that you can take them apart using the key supplied for cleaning and sharpening unlike many cheaper ones which have a fixed blade. If you do invest in Felco secateurs make sure you sharpen the blade correctly (instructions supplied) and don't over tighten the 'castellated' nut or else the blades will stick. Finally get yourself a holster then you won't put them down and lose them. Highly recommended for the professional and keen amateur.

As a gardener by profession I can honestly say that purchasing a pair of Felco secateurs is very worthwhile. Whilst they may look the same as any other they are in fact so much better. They just feel more positive to use and simply last much much longer than cheaper versions so they work out good value (especially on Amazon) in the end especially if you maintain and look after them well i.e. sharpen the blade, tighten and oil occasionally
