I got a taste of Rumi's work whilst reading "drop from an Ocean" a kids teaching book, full of wisdom and stories, yet so powerful in meaning and content. Since then I have been drawn to Rumi's work like a moth attracted to light, however it was me being drawn to God. I was never into peotry, spiritualism, or into Rumi's work for that matter, since reading his works, I intend to read further and explore.
"Feeling the Shoulder of the Lion" I remember reading this book on the train from work, and feeling inspired, strong, and fearless. I didnt realise how much Rumi Loved his Creator "Unseen" then again, the heart and soul is always drawn to the One who is unseen.
This book is nice, and enough Food for the mind and soul, that even reading just one poem is enough to make you think deeply for hours on contemplation.
Rumi is truly amazing, how amazing, you will have to pick up one of his works!

Rumi is the complete mystic, with deeply rooted common sense. It's about spiritual intoxication, the "Whirling Dervishes" come from the dance of the early Sufis lost in this state. This is other Islam, beyond events and possessions into the ecstatic liberation of mind and soul, The short book has many profound anecdotes in warm simplicity. Coleman Barks found a wondrous niche.

A magnificent translation of the Rumi. I can nt believe it that the English translation sounds even better to me than the native Farsi. I am na Iranian and love the translation a lot better than the origianl in Persian.

For spiritual growth - this book is it! I have maked up the margins, and typed excerpts for my personal journal. In one word = EXCELLENT!!! So many principles I have read and I am witnessing being used today by top, notable politicians - and they don't even know it...
