I am still getting used to finding my way around electronic books but have been sufficiently convinced that I will be ordering the rest of the series. The material is good as well. Lots of different ideas and perspectives for writing sermons, which is my major use

Though I do not typically like to use a lectionary for my sermon preparation, when a pastor gets "stuck" in a rut, a book like this is a great help. This book lays out a logical way to move through the scriptures during the course of the year. Even if a pastor does not want to follow the entire book, just using the 6 weeks before Christmas and Easter can help the pastor break out of the same old stuff that is often presented at those times of the year. Well done, worth the price.

I have been using Feasting on the Word for a little over a year now. They are an absolutely excellent preaching resource. The exegetical section is especially helpful for those weeks that don't seem to have enough time in them (hello Christmas!). The pastoral section is great for me to read and the theological and homiletical sections are useful for sermon starters. I often find just the nugget I need to get me started on my sermon, and have had several people tell me that my preaching material has been really good in the past year...in other words, since I started using this series. The only thing not as good in the Year A book so far is that the dates are not included, like they were for Year C (i.e., they included the range of dates that, say, Proper 17 would fall under). Worth every penny!!!
HASH(0x97652e88) out of 5 stars A feast indeed! 28 July 2014

This is an excellent aid for preparing sermons based on the lectionary text. Even though there are no sample sermons, this is the first place I go to get my bearings on the text. Each of the lectionary texts are examined from four perspectives by experts in their field: theological, pastoral, homiletical, and exegetical. Feasting on the Word is a multi volume set that covers the church year for each of the three lectionary cycles. Thankfully they are available on kindle for a reduced price. And yes, these volumes are a feast!

The Feasting on the Word are excellent resources for pastors---Theology, Pastoral, Exegetical and Homiletic viewpoints are covered usually offering new insights and from varying perspectives which I appreciate. It would be helpful to have the material organized differently rather than hopping from one page to another to the appropriate column just to read each category. I hope that each book is offered on Kindle---more are being offered and it is wonderful to read it on the ipad. Thank you!
