"Let me chase away all your fears about us. Let me kiss all the scars I left on your heart."

Having met under dubious circumstances in an airport in Moscow in Flawed and Damaged, Book One in the series, their love story is one involving much heart break and uncertainty. Continuing in Fears and Scars is their faltering romance and their journey to accept themselves, flaws and all. Liz relocated to Moscow, five years ago, to live with her Grandma after a tragic aeroplane accident made her an orphan. Fate is often cruel as her life line quickly succumbs to Alzheimer's and Liz struggles to manage the financial burden and her education. Her job leads her to cross paths with the enigmatic Ryan, a self made powerful man, with a past full of his own horrors. Drawn to one another's damaged souls they stumble toward each other in the dark that consumes them. Book One leaves the readers with hope that they can find their happily ever after although they still have a mountain to climb...

Fears and Scars continues their tale of stilted but all consuming love for one another. The choices they make impact heavily on their future dreams and the path they chose is a difficult one to travel. Liz is finally happy and ready to plan her future but once again life throws a curve ball. Ryan is desperate to ensconce Liz in his love and protect her from any more hurt. Yet in doing so he risks losing the one thing he can't live without, her love. Stubbornly refuting the consequences of his decisions Ryan rushes head first into situations to valiantly protect his heart - Liz. But is the cost too great? Can trust ever be rebuilt once its broken? Will true love really conquer all?

Ryan is beautifully flawed by his upbringing, and a little slow to learn from his previous mistakes.

I have to admit when I realised there was a second book in this series I was a little disappointed, I thought Liz and Ryan's story could have been tied up in one.

Although I struggled in the beginning of this story I have to say in the end it drew me in completely and kept me hooked until the last page.

The first half of this book I struggled with, I found Liz completely selfish and self absorbed I get she had no concern for Ryan's feelings at times and if the shoe had been on the other foot she would have had a problem with it. I took a real dislike for her character in the first 50% but I should say I began to soften toward her after that point.

Ryan was stupid for doing a few of the things he did, I wanted to smack him and tell him to wise up. Although what he did for Jacob was admirable!

This series was very emotional at times and I have had quite a few ugly cries whilst reading it. I found Emily's writing captivating and I loved the secondary characters in this book.

I really hope we get a book from Mark and also Jacob, it would be nice to hear what happened in their lives.

4.5 stars. Reviewed on behalf of A Book Lover’s Emporium book blog

This is book two in the Damaged Hearts Duet by Emily Krat.

It is 5 months since Liz and Ryan became engaged and thought they had achieved their richly deserved happily ever after. Both are in their element and are looking forward to a future together. Their connection is as strong as ever and they are basking in the happiness that each thought they never would find or deserve.

However Ryan is still hiding a secret from the love of his life’s past and has no idea how to tell her. His automatic response is to protect Liz from everything, even if that means hurting himself in the process, but this is one secret that could break both their hearts and cause irrevocable damage. When the truth is set free how will Liz learn to trust Ryan ever again? And when one lie causes another and another when is enough enough? Will Liz and Ryan ever have a smooth road to happiness or are they really destined to be part?

I loved this book and my heart goes out to Ryan. Being an old romantic myself I completely understood where he was coming from and why he was doing the things he did. Others will disagree I’m sure but Ryan Lucas Price is fast becoming a high ranking book boyfriend for me. I really wish I could have given this book 5 stars as I love Liz and Ryan and can relate to Liz’s feelings so much but I was left with quite a few questions at the end of the book – even after the epilogue – and I’m not sure if the other characters will get their own books and in so answer my questions.

Firstly I would like to give a HUGE thanks to the lovely Emily for kindly providing me with a copy of "Fears and Scars" to read and review.

I can't remember how many times my heart broke whilst reading this, I also think I've over emotional because I practically cried through the whole thing...I do have the flu so I blame this for being hormonal and tanked up on medication to make me feel this way :D haha

I loved how the story picked up where it left off, they both have an undeniable connection, their love is so strong....or so they think....
The story truly does captures just how deep their feelings go and how far they're willing to go to protect one another.

Liz is finally happy and ready to plan her future but once again life throws a curve ball into the works. Ryan is desperate to love and protect Liz from any more hurt, Yet in doing so he risks losing the one thing he can't live without, her love.

An emotional train wreck is the only way to describe the way this book makes you feel.
Two perfectly broken souls find the path of redemption together but can they resist the temptation of causing further heartbreak along the way?

Fearing to trust, fearing to love only causes them anguish and pain and will only result in leaving scars.

"Let me chase away all your fears about us.
Let me kiss all the scars I left on your heart."

Trust me, you will love this instalment. I'm being vague so I don't spoil the story.

One thing for sure is, you will fall back in love with this couple.
