This film rates as probably my favourite film ever. The characterisations are flawless, the direction fantastic and the final scene one that guarantees to have me in tears every single time. I always seem to like Peter Weir films as they have an atmosphere all their own, but this one stands out, mostly due to Jeff Bridges portrayal of a man who is having severe trouble coming to terms with why he has survived a plane crash. You can read a lot into this work. I am not a spiritual person, but do not feel this detracts from my enjoyment of the film. Suffice to say I cannot rate it highly enough.

Completely fantastic.
Lead character gains deep spiritual insight/enlightenment after facing death absolutely in a plane crash...This is portrayed beautifully in his complete fearlessness and love for others, but the human mediocre of his previous life creates a tension that challenges his deep realisation, and shows us just how unready humanity is to coming close to God realisation. If you have any spiritual inclination this film will touch you deeply.

Post traumatic stress disorder takes on new meaning in this excellent and absorbing film.
Jeff Bridges excels as a survivor of a plane crash from which he emerges not only unscathed, but seemingly invulnerable. His route to recovery involves helping other survivors to come to terms with their own losses and post traumatic stress. This highly watchable film, directed by Peter Weir, is not as heavy as it sounds, with many appealing moments. Clever use of slow motion to emphasise Bridges' disturbed detachment is one example.

Other reviewers have sung the praises of this movie but it is simply one of the best movies ever made. It captures humanity in a way others have not. I didnt know Peter Weir was the director until I looked at the credits but it does not surprise me.

"Fearless" may just feature Jeff Bridges' best acting performance and that is saying a lot given how good an actor Bridges is.

This movie is a must see. I can not tell you how much I love this movie, and why you should go see it, but if you need a sad movie, this is it.
I am not going to tell you about plot, because I feel when one goes to see a movie, looking at only the cover (and not reading the description on the back) should be enough. The movie touches themes like "death, love, fear, and devotion" without getting more complex than that it is about a mans struggle to come to grips with reallity after his involvement in a planecrash.
The DVD is somewhat lacking on the extras, but the movie justifies that, and so much more in both sound and picture quality. I highly recommend this movie to anybody, because I owe it to you, and you owe it to yourself to see, and own this one.

I love this film and watched it many times when I had it as a VHS (and video player, now long gone). However, I don't seem to be able to get it as a UK-playable DVD. I would really love to watch this again (and again, and again!). Please can it be made available here. Many thanks.
