This is the second book in the Los Rancheros series and a very different read to the amazing first book Fan Girl. Fate's mistake is a dark story of domestic abuse, with both physical and mental torture. Kinley is stuck in a loveless marriage to Jeremy who is abusive and unfaithful. Kinley is scared to stay but scared to run, she is invisible to the outside world. Then someone sees through her, understands what she is going through and gives her an out.
So Kinley embarks on a journey of self discovery, she learns to live again, to laugh again and to love again.
She discovers what her fashion sense is (cardigans) and listens to new music. There are obstacles on her way but fate helps her on her journey.
This story is so well written, it had me gripped and I desperately wanted Kinley to find her HEA after all she had been through. I physically felt each punch and slap that she was given by Jeremy. The anticipation to her escape left me breathless. As she grew as a person so did her feelings for the person who had saved her months ago and this is where the story develops into a romance. The first kiss, her first kiss since her marriage was so emotional. She had to learn to trust again. All she ever wanted was to be loved to the moon and
This book will have a huge impact on you and it is a story that will stay with you for a long time

I was really enjoying this book until 83% in.

How can you ruin a book at 83%???????

It got a bit silly, so I skipped the last bit as I was extremely disappointed & you could obviously predict the ending.

There was no need for this book to have gone in that direction, it wasn't a twist, it was a rubbish end to a good book.
I'm really annoyed!!!!! 😠😠😠😠

reading to the point I could not put it down. Definitely worth a read…
Kinley, a quiet woman, seemingly invisible to the people around her, lives a life full of abuse. Until one day when someone ‘sees’ her. Danny finds the mousy Kinley running on the treadmill in the hotel gym, when he tries to talk to her she seems scared which put Danny on alert. He sees what she is hiding from everyone. He manages to talk to her alone, without anyone seeing them together. He gives her a get out card (from her marriage). He sees in her what he missed in his sister, which prompts him to help her. He gives her the phone number for his lawyer, offers to pay everything just to see she is safe from harm.
Finally when Kinley overhears her husband on the phone, she realises that she must leave. She finds the strength and courage to call the lawyer and put everything in motion.
After leaving town and hiding away from everyone she knows, she finds an unlikely friend in Lu. She keeps Kinley on her toes constantly.
Finally after Kinley’s husband is arrested and charged with multiple crimes, she finds the courage to set off to meet the man who saved her, Danny. They have spoken regular on the phone but that’s the total of the contact they have had since the day in the gym. She tries to repay his kindness (and money) but he will not hear of it. As circumstances change for both Danny and Kinley, Danny invites Kinley to stay at his home and take care of his young son.
There are many trying times for both Danny and Kinley as single people and as a couple whether it be friends or more. It’s a very emotional book from pretty much the start. It is well written with a few nice twists and turns which you don’t see coming!!! Brilliant.

So much happened during this book and literally felt like I was reading for days instead if hours.. I have to warn you though - this is a very heavy book so make sure your 'in the zone' before you pick it up. Literally so upsetting at times but so worth it.. Amazing read!

I have mixed feelings about this book. I loved the story and the writing up until about the last 20% of the book when the whole Lu situation came to light and I just thought that was a bit ridiculous. It ruined what was a brilliant story and left me feeling a bit cheated.

Holy. Wow. This book threw me through a loop! From the first page I was pulled in to Kinley's story. Kinley was broken, you could tell this from the first sentence, a shell of what a women should be. She was scared, alone and damaged! When I say alone she wasn't alone. She had her husband, ahusband who hit her and emotionally abused her. Kinley had no way out. That is until the prefect stranger gave her an opportunity. The chance she had been looking for.
Danny knows that look. He knows the look of a shattered women, and he can't help but try and save her. He wants to be the hero. He wants to save the broken beauty, who fascinates him from the beginning.

They say that when you know, you know-you know. That is what I believe happened with Danny and Kinley. No matter how torn up they both were, they knew together they made up the broken puzzle (maybe reword this: they knew together they could fit their pieces back together to form their misshapen puzzle). Seperate they were nothing but shell's of the people they could be, but together they were unstoppable.
When Danny offers to help Kinley and get her away from her abusive relationship, Kinley can't accept. She is scared of what Jeremy will do. She has never been on her own. First her parents were by her side, then they handed him over to Jeremy. . . not knowing what that man was capable of.

The relationship Kinley had with her parents was one to admire. The love they had shone brighter than any relationship i've ever read about. Her parents were her world, and she theirs. That was until one fateful accident ripped them from her. Leaving her in the clutches of Jeremy and his wicked ways.

“More than the moon and the stars.”

Lets fast forward and Kinley escapes.
