That is where she meets Casimir Rokiczana, one of the aforementioned Prussians. He is worried that the powers that be in congress would end up breaking his homeland apart. By going there he hoped to make some allies from countries such as England, to help stop that happening. When he first sees George he is instantly attracted to her, but he also sees an opportunity to use her to see to it that the British will help his cause.
That is the the story that flows throughout the book, but of course interwoven beautifully there is also the relationship between George and Casimir to enjoy reading, plus we get to read more about Jack and Sabre who featured in the previous Haberdasher books. That said, this book can easily be read as a stand alone one.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, it had twists and turns, some laughs, and some sad times. I was intrigued with the plot from beginning to end. There were no slow parts, no unbelievable parts. In fact, all in all, it was a perfect read. I loved finding out more about George, and seeing how she developed in this story and I am definitely looking forward to reading the next in the series.
The writing is good in that the characters are well introduced but I found that they never truly sorted their issues and distrust of each other. The mystery element of the novel wasn't fully resolved either.
Frustrating. I'll take chance on the next in the series and hope this book is just a blip in form.
