Tasha Alexander has created Victorian London's most colourful sleuth. (Jacqueline Winspear)

A thoroughly enjoyable adventure with both historical texture and emotional depth (Anne Perry)

Tasha Alexander is one to watch - and read. despite her cliffhanger climaxes and witty repartee, there's a depth of sensitivity that sets her apart (The Huffington Post)

This book continues in the excellent style of the earlier 2 novels. The combination of gripping mystery and the on-going romance with Colin makes for a really good read. If I have a complaint about Tasha Alexander it is only that the conclusion of her books each time seems a bit trite given the well thought out build up of the plot. However, this will not stop me reading future books as I really enjoy them

Excellent the best in the series--won't give anything away but it moves her personal life forward.A wonderful expose of the "trials and tribulations " of middle /upper classes.

I would have appreciated the history section, which was at the end of the kindle story, to have been at the beginning. It would have helped to understand the part set in Vienna.
