Fat Vampires. Who would have thunk it?
I was turned on to Johnny B. Truant's Fat Vampire by Johnny B. Truant... or was it Sean Platt? Can't remember. Not enough blood left inside, probably.. Anyhow, I was reading 'Write. Publish. Repeat.' when the topic came up. I say topic, but Vampires are more a meme, aren't they? Pretty sure they are, though I have been known to be wrong. Nuff said. Read the book. It's a barrel of laughs. With Vampires.

An overweight, lonely man makes friends with a colleague and is invited to go bowling. Unaware he is a vampire he is attacked by 3 rogue vampires and is saved and turned by his friend. As he was unfit and overweight when changed he remains that way and can't chase his prey to feed.

What a great story of a picked on fat person who comes out on top amongst fast strong over muscled vampires just using his enhanced brain. Great story, well written and surely the most fabulously described characters.

A new and refreshing approach to a vampire story. A very good, but short, read. I'm looking forward to reading the next ones but not while they're £2.99 for what is really, a short novella. Quality not quantity here.

Fat Vampire is an excellent read, it's short enough to devour in a single night too. It's not quite worth it to nibble away at the book, instead take portions you know aren't quite healthy and don't stop 'til it's all gone.

Okay, I admit, that last line was just to carry on the metaphor. But, extended metaphors notwithstanding, the book isn't quite as food related as you might imagine. Sure, it's a staple of the book, see title for reference, but it's the mythos that Truant builds in this first book that will grab you by the short and curlies and won't let go.

You won't regret this book; not as much as that kebab last night, at any rate.
