Told from dual points of view I think this moved at a fair pace but there were points where all I wanted was for it to just cool its heels.
We first met Gina in Sidelined and I actually found her a little complicated to connect with. She riled me more than I wanted her too. Nothing drastic, just little bits here and there that had me scratching my head and wondering WTF. Honestly woman cut the guy some slack!
Although taking a good hard look at the whole story and I think that the main problem I had with Gina was more to do with the fact I actually liked Ryder from the get go and so I found the way she blew hot and cold with him a little off putting.
She was so sure that there could be nothing between them but that didn’t stop her almost stringing him along so to speak. She toyed with him and I found that was a side of her that I didn’t like.
Ryder liked her, that much was obvious but with her rebuttal ringing in his ears he was on a mission to prove her wrong. Now I adored his determination, there was no way he was going to let her stubbornness get in his way, but lord knows, I was beginning to think that she was more trouble than she was worth.
There was a chemistry there between the two of them but my heart belonged to Ryder.
A good read that is worth the effort it takes to see under the shell that Gina has around her, she takes work but they are both worth it in the end
I started this a little confused it was like I missed some chapters because there was no intro as such and it was like the reader is expected to know who is who, I couldnt understand the synopsis at first? the book starts at a baseball match obviously the characters first encounter is in a previous book & I wasn't aware it was a series. Anyway I soon got into the swing of it pardon the pun.
Gina is a woman with backbone normally you would expect the man to be into kink and sex clubs but in Fastball it's Gina who holds all the cards and likes the control, she is the kind of woman who has always put up barriers and never enters relationships.
Ryder is a star baseball player the plot doesn't focus on this as it mainly focuses on Gina and Ryder's relationship. Ryder is on a mission and isn't giving up on Gina and gradually starts to chip at her walls.
A plot told in dual pov's with great main characters and extended characters. Other characters include Ryders sister Riley, Gina's best friends Cassidy and Mark.
A hot read, great chemistry with a bit of angst and does lead to a well deserved hea for Gina and Ryder.
Good read, I would read other books from the other characters.
Hargrove and Laine have written a wonderfully hot erotic romance here, with enough depth to it to keep it interesting and more than just sex with no plot. I found this perfectly paced, a fairly quick read that managed to progress and develop at the right speed without leaving anything out, and allowing understanding of the characters and where they were emotionally.
I loved how this dived straight in, immediately to steam with no set up, something a little refreshing and different to many of the other romances I've read recently. And although their relationship was clearly set up in the previous instalment, I didn't feel like I really missed anything crucial.
My main gripe with the story was the lack of honestly between the characters, making the angst seem a little forced at times. I was also unable to really tell the ages of these characters, as although I feel they were painted to be mid to late twenties, they really did act immaturely and have younger voices. And, despite the super steamy sex, I never quite felt the sexual tension between the two characters which was a shame for me. Neither did I really grow attached emotionally to either character.
Above all, although (like everyone) I'm a huge fan of a happily ever after, I found that everything came together a little too easily and perfectly towards the end.
Regardless of its drawbacks, I really did enjoy reading this, particularly with its BDSM twist, and will be going back to read the first one.
Fastball is a great read from Terri E Laine and A.M Hargrove. I love the writing style of these two ladies they create characters that have a great connection and just pull you in their story.
I have to admit it did take me a little time to warm up to Gina she did come across a little whiney and selfish in the beginning but the more I read and began to understand her back story the more I began to like her. I liked how Ryder new exactly what or should I say who he wanted he's one "hot" baseball player he could literally have any women he wants but no matter how much Gina tries to push him away he's determined to show her just how much she deserves to be loved.
Overall a great read and I'm hoping that maybe we'll get Riley's story next.
These authors usually nail it for me, but I have to be honest and I'm gutted.
