Product Description

Product Description

This three-volume box set of the fast-paced sketch show includes 'The Fast Show: Series 3, Part 1', 'Part 2' and 'The Fast Show: You Ain't Seen All of These, Right?', the latter of which includes over 20 minutes of previously unseen material. So old favourites like Ron Manager, Rowley Birkin, Ted and Ralph, Arthur Atkinson and Tommy Cockles will find themselves rubbing shoulders with the likes of Mid-life Crisis Man, Road Rage Man, Up All Night Shagging Man and Ponce in the Garden.

From Amazon.co.uk

Built up from sketch ideas rejected when they were working on Harry Enfield and Chums, Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson conceived The Fast Show as a lean, protein-packed comedy package. The idea was to cut the essence of sketches and characters without undue build-up--hence the high number of catchphrases the show yielded. "Suits you, sir", "Brilliant!", "You ain't seen me, right?" and even "Chris Waddle" were all quickly established in 1994's opening series, whose highlights are on this video. Despite its relentless verbal riffing, slapstick and gleeful use of four-letter words, such as Whitehouse's "Arse!"-grunting sidekick to Coughing Bob Fleming, there's a very knowing subtlety about The Fast Show and a freshness to the subject matter. "Channel Neus", the skit on the TV station of indeterminate foreign origin is very cleverly turned, as is Whitehouse's incomprehensible pre-war comedian Arthur "Where's me washboard?" Atkins, while the sketch in which old man Unlucky Alf walks up a road and falls down a hole is, although it may not appear so on paper, a mini-comedy masterclass. Then, there's the perverse pathos of young landowner Ralph's infatuation for his elderly gardener, Ted. This pair are the least "Fast", yet possibly best characters on the show. --David Stubbs --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

"This week,i have been mostly watching The Fast show" The Fast show is one of the best British comedy series ever made, Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson has created a classic sketch series of characters created by Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, Simon Day, Mark Williams, John Thompson, Annabella Weir. Kenny and Kenneth should get their own televison show. because they are one of the most crude and funniest characters on the show
ANYWAY! BBRILLIANT.

The Fast Show is one of the best comedy shows to be produced in Britain in the last ten years. If you haven't caught it yet, this video is where you should start. It's actually a 'Best Of' covering Series 1. It doesn't contain all the material in the first series (unlike the video sets for series 2 and 3) but it has some wonderful highlights. Buy this video and witness the humble beginnings of Ted and Ralph! Genius.

This is the second part of the excellent third series, and it reaches the same standards of quality we've come to expect from The Fast Show. The Earl of Wyborne continues to recount his indiscreet exploits, and Swiss Toni shares more of his expert knowledge on the arts of love (fine Belgian chocolates etc). But this video contains some unexpected material: Ted and Ralph experience some very unhappy events, and the sketches involving them are often more sad than funny. And Ken & Kenneth are outsmarmed by a customer even more depraved than they are - this is probably my favourite sketch of the whole third series! The customer, played by Simon Day, expatiates: "One feels the need to reacquaint oneself with the finer things in life: with purity, and love, and innocence. And then it's down with the trousers, out with the old chap, and "Come on ladies, come on gentlemen, come on you trannies, fruits of the forest, satyrs - come slide down the greasy pole of my depravity! Now bring the chickens!".

obviously if you like the Fast Show get this .... However, I liked it at the time, it just seems rather "bleurgh" now. Being a "tour" it'll never be as good as the series was either.

Since i first saw THE FAST SHOW on televison, I started to love Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson's popular comedy series. BRILLIANT! Is the word to describe it. I enjoyed THE FAST SHOW: THE LIVE PERFORMACE ON STAGE, i thought it's a 80 minutes comedy ride, with credits at the beginning which start off the live show like a motion picture. TED AND RALPH on stage was a good one, when they both sang a good song with Paul as Ted singing: "How can i tell him, i haven't really fixed the drainage in the lower field."
THE FAST SHOW LIVE is BRILLIANT!

There have been numerous rumours that this third series of The Fast Show is going to be the final series - all I can say is that I hope it's not true! Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson have come up with some more truly excellent comedy material here. A lot of characters from the past few series are back, though some (eg Monkfish, who bizarrely appears as a one-man-band detective) don't crop up very frequently. And there are some excellent new characters - Swiss Toni, Johnny the painter and best of all the 13th Duke of Wybourne! The second half of this series (available as a separate video) is even better than this first part.

This video is excellent. Including all the favorites Colin, Unlucky Alf, The suits you men etc. You will roar with laughter after seeing this. It is only disapointing that it dosent last longer. It is all Xmas orrinantated so the 'does my um looking big in this' woman is a fairy on top of a Christmas tree asking 2 kids if see her bum looks big with the tree up her bum. A must buy, you will not regret it.

If you can believe it, the Live Show is better than the series. I had my doubts when I bought it, not thinking that the characters would come across well in a live setting. I was wrong. It's brilliant!
