The author very cleverly shows a method of cutting up fat quarters so as to waste as little fabric as possible. It looks a bit complicated at first glance, but all will soon become clear with a little concentration, particularly once the order in which the pieces are cut is understood. Cotton fabric which is suitable for patchworking and quilting is now getting extremely expensive and this book is excellent for ensuring that we get the best value from our fabric investments by using up every last scrap. However, in cases where fabric motifs need to be centred or matched, the method may not work, but the book is, nevertheless, full of very inspiring patterns for quite spectacular quilts, even if the fabric has to be cut in the conventional way. A very worthwhile addition to any quilter's bookshelf.

A very inspiring book, got me started on quilts in a very straightforward way. beware though ! the cutting pattern only works for some of the quilts ! you need a lot more fabric and pieces for many of the quilts. This was a big disappointment.

Ideal for using small pieces of fabric & fat quarters. Gives lots of choices & fresh ideas for different quilt blocks. Excellent & well designed cutting plan. More suitable for quilters with some experience.

I bought this for a quilting friend who is just getting back to quilting after a child-raising break. I think it will give her lots of ideas to get going again, and also give her daughter some simple ideas, as she's just getting started.

This book does exactly what it sets out to do - enable you to use up those fat quarters you've bought and don't know what to do with. The cutting plan is easy to follow and it really is very quick to get a quilt together as all the cutting is done in the beginning. The 'cut first, decide later' approach is an excellent tool for quilters who like to design as they go along. The beauty of this method is that you get a few surprises along the way as you can never really predict what you'll come up with. The quilts featured are inspiring but I think they are really intended as a starting point for you own creativity - although you can replicate them if you wish as instructions are included. I've used this book a lot and would recommend it to anyone who wants to make fast and unique quilts.

I love this book. I bought it as I need some ideas of what to do with all the fat quarters I've collected. It's a very brave person who follows this book to the letter, but I have started to cut up a few of my favourites.

This is a great quilting book, makes the most of fat quarters and it's fun putting the pieces together into different blocks. You do end up wasting a certain amount though if you cut all the pieces out at once.

I first got this book from the local library and decided I had to have it for home reference. Beautiful quilts to drool over and lots of tips on how to achieve them. The cutting plans on how to achieve a finished 4" square from different shapes is particularly useful. Don't know that I'll be fast, but I've certainly enjoyed making my first four-patch squares.
