About the Author

Paul Blanchard is a PR consigliere, and works with CEOs and global thought leaders around the world. He has been running his firm, Right Angles, for nearly twenty miserable years. He's had some spectacular PR successes - all of which you will read about in this book - and some ridiculous failures too - of which only some will appear. With offices in London and New York, and a staff of twenty, Right Angles is at the cutting edge of professional reputation management. A self-confessed media geek, he also presents the very popular podcast 'Media Masters' - a series of one-to-one interviews with the very top people in the media world. You can listen to the podcast at www.mediamasters.fm - but you really don't have to, as we've nicked the best bits and distilled their wisdom in this very book. This is really an astonishing book. By dispensing with padding it is just a highly usable book of outstanding tactics. It's hard to find at least 5 of these that wouldn't apply to your own issues. Will suit people who can't afford PR support or didn't even imagine that PR could be of use to them.

Amazon.com: 0.0 out of 5 stars 0 reviews
5.0 out of 5 stars PR without the spin...up to date, practical and well-written 5 May 2017
By John Clare Lionsden - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Paul Blanchard describes himself as a PR consigliere…a loyal and trusted confidant to CEOs and thought leaders around the world. It’s an interesting description, given its Mafia links. And just like The Godfather, he is making you an offer you can’t refuse…all the techniques of PR and spin, at your disposal, without having to pay for it (except for the modest price of the book).

There is no shortage of books about PR, so why should this one have a place by your side or on your tablet? First, it’s bang up to date and practical. If you need to know your hashtag from your @, your Instagram from your Snapchat, and how to use them effectively, you’ll find it here.

Second, it’s an excellent read. Pithy and witty, with a self-deprecating humour which avoids preaching or patronising. It’s written like I imagine a conversation with the author would be.

Third, when Blanchard says, ‘Here’s what works’ you don’t have to take his word for it. The book is sprinkled with advice from others at the top of their media or marketing game, such as Alastair Campbell, Sir Trevor MacDonald, Katie Hopkins and Guido Fawkes.

Fourth, it’s short. ‘As short as possible, as long as necessary’ as we communication specialists tell people.

The author says he’s telling you what PR agencies won’t tell you. For his sake, I hope none of them are fans of The Godfather…or else he might wake up one morning and find a horse’s head in his bed.
