You enter what ever details you have about any, one person including name, dob, place of birth, christening, occupation, marriage, death, burial, Etc. including some items of your own choosing and free text. For many of these you can add an address/location and for all a date (or partial date such as: 1806; bef 1806; Oct-Dec 1806). You can also add one or more sources of where this information came from and you choose what to write, you can include "read it in the so-and-so newpaper". In fact there is little that you can not add. So what are the faults? Well the reporting really. v5 of this product was poor at it's printed report - my Dad produces a more useful report with paper, pencil and a ruler. The problem is that the reports are produced by the software from standard templates and as a result could only produce moderate results even with a lot of ones work. v6 was an improvement to this with more templates, however my Dad still wins. What else? Well a what to research next page and help with using the Internet to find information.
A couple of years ago the number of suppliers of this type of software reduced through takeovers and mergers. The result being that although the other products are still being developed, this one is the flagship. Note that there are several versions of this software depending on the number of American data CD's provided. Not too useful in the UK, unless you have some American branches to your tree, you probably want the "European" version which is more use (slightly).
The latest version is v8 (new late Sept. 2000) this I believe has made huge improvements in the area of reporting. A European version of this is awaited, and I intend to upgrade when Amazon starts to sell it.
Worth buying? If you are serious about researching your family, and don't want to get lost in all the data, this product range is the best and a must.
