A whole project rather than just a vocalist, Lady GaGa is the determined invention of art school graduate Stefani Germanotta. Blessed with the backing of Akon, a love of synths and 80s pop, and a eye-catching image as well as an obsession with celebrity, her debut album is set to capture the heart of every pop fan as well as establishing the electro-girl revolution that looks set to conquer the close of the decade.
Taking obvious inspiration from Christina Aguilera and name-sharer Gwen Stefani, Lady GaGa lands with the motto that 'pop music will never be low brow' and a sound fuelled by slick productions and urgent beats. Joined by Akon protégée Colby O'Donell, the irresistible Let's Dance has topped charts around the world - but can The Fame live up to such an immediate first hit?
The answer is yes. While the consistent production from the Red One team might not offer up any surprises, it does make you feel like you're listening to a powerful, single filled album. Although the cheeky Boys Boys Boys and awful Uncle John From Jamaica sound-alike Nothing I Can Say might be flirtatious and silly, songs like the strut-tastic Pokerface and expensive Money Honey express her overwhelming desire for celebrity and fortune. The robotic Love Game with its brilliant line ''I want to take a ride on your disco stick'' is brilliant, but utterly cold and leaves us awarding Gaga the yearbook title of 'pop star most likely to kill'. When the mask does slip, it's even more effective, most noticeably in the overwhelmingly heart swelling chorus of Paparrazi.
A Christina Aguilera clone, perhaps, but in these days where we're crying out for our pop stars to have a personality, Gaga's flamboyance and ultimately the catchiness of her songs is sure to cement her place in the list of pop idols. --Talia Kraines

'Lady Gaga' is a clearly talented singer/performer (I've seen TV broadcasts of her live at Glastonbury to know that to be true - she wears outlandish costumes, 'dances', plays instruments as well as composing the majority of her material) and there is a good range of songs on offer on this album to enjoy her vocal quality and musical 'energy' to it's best.
Things get off to a great start with the powerful 'Let's Dance' and it's pretty much full-throttle from then on; my favourites are 'Poker Face' on the album and 'Paparazzi' (although it is better performed live). It's not just her voice that helps to make these songs so enjoyable of course, the largely synthesised supporting music is also excellent and of a style unusual/defined enough to prevent the tracks becoming unforgettable or difficult to distinguish from other modern music.
The reproduction quality of this CD is flawless and there's nearly an hour of music to enjoy; the UK-edition I own has 16 tracks and some good online bonus content (an extra track, downloadable videos and wallpaper images) but I found the live video offered was unavailable for download - although it is available 'elsewhere'...
Even the CD packaging is a classy-affair, with a chunky/'curvy' jewel case and an informative booklet including plenty of photos of the 'Lady' herself.
I am too old to be in disco's or nightclubs where Lady Gaga tracks might be played, but I can imagine how good the experience might be; playing this album loud on my home hi-fi is a good substitute !
After enquiries, I've added a photo of the CD box to this Amazon sale page to help with distinguishing this version from others.
My personal favorites are I Like It Rough,Summerboy and the daft but fun Boys Boys Boy.
Fast Delivery and the inlay, disc, and jewel case were in excellent condition.....
In my opinion i honestly think this album is the greatest ever! i own CD's such as every oasis cd, every eminem cd, beatles,ac/dc, avril lavigne, girls aloud, nirvana, robbie williams, michael jackson, katy perry, rage against the machine, metallica, cascada, pink, marina and the diamonds, kasabian, silverchair and much more.
Lady GaGa right now is the best in the world at what she does in my opinion and you will not regret buying this album thats for sure.
