About the Author

Julianna Marley is fairly certain that she was born on the wrong side of the Mason-Dixon line. She’s in constant search of warmth, sunshine and water. When not writing about all the places she yearns to be, she can be found enjoying obnoxious amounts of coffee and getting bossed around by a four year-old.

This was definitely no false start, this kicked off a new series by a new author in superb style.
I was never a huge one for sports star romances, but I have to say when work like this keeps hitting my kindle I can see me becoming a devotee!
I liked the premise that came with this story, the peek inside the lives of the already married Jax and Liv and a look at eth hard work that it takes to keep your marriage alive. The spark has to continue to flicker and it won’t do it on its own, like everything in life being happy takes work and being happy together needs you both to be singing from the same hymn sheet.
But when you see the woman you love, constantly struggling with the weight of your persona and the angst that your career and your choices have foisted on her every day, sometimes seeing a clear path to a better life is not something that should be undertaken alone.
Being married to a sports star is a high pressure job, it take as special type of person to be able to suffer the slings and arrows that are going to be hurtled your direction either by the plain old haters, the devious and spiteful liars or the sneaky sods that see nothing but your life as something to line their pockets. Liv and Jax have been at the behest of all three and they have made it through but just how much has it taken out of them, and after all that can they survive the ultimate test .
When Jax takes matters into his own hands and makes his ill-fated unilateral decision, testing everything they have. Can they finally find a way back from the brink once and for all?
Can this pair find the strength they need to be the team that they were always destined to be or will what they once had been forever consigned to the side-lines.
The author really dished up a superb scenario, a plethora of secondary characters that were both engaging and eclectic. And a story that has whetted my appetite for what is to come next.

This is a good debut novel.I'm ready to read more from this author.

Jax and Alivia Monaghan are a beautiful couple and with their two daughters they have a lovely family until the day Jax feels the need to walk away.Fortunately he understands he made a mistake and wants everything back.

My favorite character is our Hero,Jax.This big, handsome, sweet and lovable man that will do everything to protect his girls, his Family. Plus he is an amazing quarterback.

I liked the main characters and every single one of their friends.
I'm so curious about the supporting characters' stories I hope the next book in the series is out pretty soon.

I have particularly enjoyed reading about the second chance at love of this married couple.

HASH(0x95955558) out of 5 stars Football hero Jax Monaghan loved his wife Alivia and their two beautiful children 22 Mar. 2016
By OLGA therebelreader - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Football hero Jax Monaghan loved his wife Alivia and their two beautiful children. When life became burdensome and too stressful, Jax felt the need to make a change. And, so he simply left. After one year of being apart, Jax comes back. Now he has one last chance to prove to his wife that he can be the man she needs . . . if she'll have him. Sometimes getting started is the hardest part, but Jax is determined to win back his only love. But can Alivia trust that this time Jax is back to stay? In his effort to protect his family, instead he created barriers that almost destroyed the family. Alivia felt abandoned and betrayed. But she still loves her husband, and she’s willing to give him a chance.

The synopsis sounded fascinating and right up my alley. It did keep me clicking through the pages; that's for sure. But, unfortunately I was really let down by the end. The lead female character was too naïve and easy going, and generally I wasn’t convinced by the drama in her marriage. The plot was kind of average and the dialogue/narration was a bit rambling.

I loved Jax’s character, he was loyal and likeable. Although the characters have issues to resolve, they did everything in their respective powers to save their marriage...showing the deep bond and love they share. All in all, an entertaining read, even though the storyline's a bit unrealistic to me.

2.5 stars

This is the story of Jax and Alivia, a couple that had a whirl wind courtship, got married, and had kids. They look like the picture perfect couple but they are struggling.

After some serious strain on their marriage due to rumors, a crazy ex-girlfriend, and Alivia’s personal demons Jax walks out on his wife. He leaves for a year but never tells her why. This was such a bizarre set up to me. The man up and leaves his wife who is emotionally breaking down and leaves his children. Yes he is around for the kids ( technically he moves into his own place ) but they needed a full time parent since Alivia was dealing with some things. Alivia works through some stuff and is the full time parent to her kids. After a year Jax moves back in but still doesn’t tell her right away why he left. Call me crazy but I would have demanded explanation before I allowed him back in. This weakened the pot for me and I had a hard time liking either character.

I really wanted to love this one but it was just and okay read for me.

HASH(0x9597e110) out of 5 stars This honestly is not good 29 Mar. 2016
By not joking - Published on Amazon.com

I have no idea how this got four and five star reviews.

The timing was off in the writing, making the scenes jerky and unnatural. The hero's complete inability to simply talk to his wife, to communicate effectively, was painful and I slowly began to picture 'dumb jock' in all his interactions. The heroine's dark internal monologues made this reader feel that her depression was never resolved and I waited for her to overdose or cut her wrists - was this what the writer was aiming for?

I believe that this writer had a good idea, she just ultimately failed to show this to a reader. A good editor, writing partner, or just honest beta reviewers would perhaps have improved the finished product.

HASH(0x955aa204) out of 5 stars Good Start to the Series! 22 Mar. 2016
By Amy Crull - Published on Amazon.com

So to say Jax has his hands full is an understatement... He had everything going for him... Outstanding football career, a beautiful wife and 2 precious kids but he walked away. He did what he thought was best but it wasn't...Alivia, had everything she wanted. A supportive husband who loved her unconditionally, 2 little girls who adored her and a promising career but that came crashing down. Thanks to a crazy ex girlfriend who has an obsession with Jax, their world came crashing down. Both are trying to continue life as normal as possible but it isn't easy. They both need each other to much and refuse to admit it. This was a very up and down book for me... I feel in love with all the characters except for Vanessa, I'd love nothing more than to B***H slap that girl. She is childish in everything she does. She needs to grow up fast...man did she piss me off!!!! Anyway that's enough about her. Alivia and Jax obviously have love for each other but have so many issues to deal with it. I know it can't be easy being a football wife but that's not even the problem. Alivia handles it with ease and makes it look so easy. She just can't handle stress very well..or the tabloids. Jax, has some issues as well and has very good reasons for leaving or so he thinks... This book was a good start to the series and I'd definitely read the rest of it.
