Having seen KT Tunstall perform just one song on a TV show, I just had to check out her first CD. I'm not disappointed!
This is a lovely 4 track EP (a great format - sometimes a 70 minute album is just too much - for artist and listener alike). Each track here is a little gem, with its own atmosphere, neatly arranged and warmly performed and with great production from Steve Osbourne.
What a voice! It's so nice not to have to endure show-offy R&B warbling in this day and age (Maria and Whitney - so much to answer for...) In the third track she even kicks into a bit of a Janis Joplin/Elkie Brooks register for a moment. Can't wait to see what else she can do! Great (and pretty varied) guitar playing too.
A superb calling card for a new singer/songwriter/musician that seems to have everyone who has stumbled across her (whether on TV, or at a festival or on a club stage) all of a tizzy. A star is born? Well - I'm certainly going to order the album...
I only give this a 4, rather than a 5 star because I think KT Tunstall has places to go, and this is just a start...

Also saw and was impressed with her on Jools Holland but, before that, was hugely taken with her acoustic stuff and interview on Sean Rowley's BBC Radio London show. Great voice, and has a touch of the quirky and original to set her apart. Her background in an interesting St Andrews indie/folky scene and her eclectic range of influences is worth digging into and makes her feel refreshingly unpackaged (although I'm sure her record company know what they are doing letting this low key word of mouth buzz pick up) And the EP is mighty fine too, of course.

I first came across KT Tunstall while she was guesting for Oi Va Voi, who are trust me awesome live. I was lucky enough to catch KT at the Big Chill this yr singing with the Voi and have been enchanted with her ever since..
I managed to get to see KT play a low key gig in Notting Hill a couple of months back where she showcased what she can do as a singer / songwriter and just like the set she performed on Jools Holland...KT was as fantastic that night also..
It amazes me that using clever loops from your own live samples produces such a fantastic sound created by one person and an acostic-electro guitar.
this EP takes you to a journey which is similar to her live performaces. KT is in essence a fabulous live act and her recorded catelogue represents this well
Look out for the album in december...cos I just love the track she showcased on the Jools holland show. trust me this young scot has a fantastic future and I for one love her. This EP is well worth a buy

This is an amazing EP - she is a very talented musician - can't wait for her first album. If anyone saw her on Later with Jools Holland you will understand what I mean.
