The cons; The pages off this guide are EXTREMELY thin, if you've got pets or young children who may get their hands on this book it will be ripped to shreds in no time. The main con I have with this guide is how vague and little in-depth it is on the quests, I know other reviews have said that's due to Fallout 4 being a game in which the experience differs from player to player but considering how well past Bethesda guides have been including the outstanding Skyrim and Fallout 3 guide, this is just poor shoddy work, brought out to maximize sales without putting in all the necessary hard-work that goes with a decent guide. If anyone is indeed reading this review before considering buying I would recommend just finding a decent online guide on gamefaqs or other knows websites such as IGN. The only reason anyone should buy this is for true Fallout collectors who would like it on their shelf.

Inside there is a fold out map, which is a nice addition although largely useless due to the fact that the maps are inside the book itself.
Also with the hardback edition I received 7 A4 sized lithographs. Shiny/fuzzy pieces of card, each with an enlarged picture of each of the S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats. Strength, perception, endurance etc. Very nice.
The substance of the book is made up of detailed descriptions and diagrams of most of the buildings and places within the wasteland. Each place has a map, a list of items found at each place, as-well as a list of the types of enemies.
It also features an almost complete list of quests, along with complete walkthrus for each one.
There are also some pages that give info on crafting. Materials, what they break down into, and how to build some guns. This aspect though is pretty vague and base. The real content of the book is based on the places and items.
This book is ideally suited for people who, when starting a mission, want to make sure they collect everything along the way. Bobbleheads, magazines, unique (legendary) gear etc. In the index, you can look up the name of the place you're going to, then flip to the right page and het presto. It'll tell you everything you need to know.
The book doesn't cover every single mission or location however. All info relevant to the story is in there, but there are plenty of places in fallout that are not in the book. I believe this is by design. You are supposed to go exploring, it's what fallout is all about.
In conclusion, I wouldn't call this book essential. But it can certainly be handy. Especially if you've just started the game and are finding yourself to be somewhat overwhelmed.
