The following is a combination of my reviews of the five individual seasons and may be regarded as containing spoilers. In my view although Falling Skies is not as complex as Babylon 5 or ambitious as Battlestar Galactica it is nevertheless a thoroughly entertaining SF series and a worthwhile addition to the genre.

The conceit behind this American SF post-apocalyptic television series is that aliens have invaded and conquered the Earth, destroying all of the world’s major cities, defeating all military opposition and neutralising global technology. Episode 1 starts six months since the invasion and follows a group of 300 survivor refugees fleeing what remains of Boston, which they are able to do because the main alien force has left the planet leaving behind garrisons who appear tasked to capture and enslave as many earth children as they can. The refugees are led by Will Patton’s hard-nosed, ponytailed Army vet and second-in-command Noah Wyle’s former history professor Tom Mason, both of whom give sound performances as contrasting characters but Colin Cunnigham effortlessly steals every scene he is in playing the dastardly unpredictable and selfish leather-clad biker gourmand (really) John Pope with a marvellous dry humour reminiscent of Alan Rickman’s Sheriff of Nottingham. The tone of the narrative is generally grim (as you would expect) but not hopeless as we observe this particularly motley crew of human insurgence attempt to outwit and fight back against the alien ‘Skitters’ and their mechanical attack drones. The episodes are undoubtedly entertaining and full of tension while the special effects are effective in conveying a sense of dread and menace.

A very entertaining series. But be aware that the product details on amazon are incorrect. There are only 10 discs in this set, not 11, and there is no "never before seen content exclusive to the box set". However it is great to have all the seasons in one box set.

Well the product itself is great the series is however kind of slow I which I didn't expect with body snatching alien invaders and everybody getting depressed about some kids poor childhood. Perspective is lacking

A program that got a less-than stellar wrap for no apparent reason.
Whilst not as violent or risqué as GOT or as stunningly ruthless as WD, Falling Skies tells the story of one family's quest to save their friends from a worsening alien invasion.
Each season throws new drama into the works and just when things look up they get worse than they've ever been.

By far one of the best Science Fiction shows out there!

I first saw a few episodes of this series long ago, but didn't go far. This 4 season for 39.99 decided me to get back. The atmosphere of almost extinct humans havin to survive each day is very good, some interesting characters, but quite some strange storylines here and there.

Falling Skies is a very gripping series at times keeping us on the edge of our seats. Forgot all about regular tv as we couldn't wait to find out what would happen next. Will definitely be buying season 5.

Although presented as a SciFi series, the attention is more on drama. And that is not done very well. There are a few good moments and acting, but what spoils it is that the characters make clearly stupid choices, only so that they can get into the next situation. That just makes them look stupid. On top of that there are scenes that are supposed to be emotional, but they end up being sentimental and take the speed out of the story. It made me want to fast-forward. Also, some things are just pointless and could have better left out. It's a pity, in the hands of a good team of writers and director this material could have been a a very interesting SciFi series.

Ok, but the writers seem to have looked at other sci-fi/drama/kitchen-sink series and copied a lot of the storylines.

Noah Wyle is a good actor (as is Moon Bloodgood), but the writing lets everyone down.
