Product Description

Review

'Ayala Pines takes aim and sends her Cupid's arrow straight at us with this brilliant work, and we cannot help but fall in love with it and what it teaches us about love in our lives. Both a clinical tour de force and a rich practical guide.' - Dale Larson, Ph.D., author of The Helper's Journey and Associate Professor and Director at the Counseling Psychology Program, Santa Clara University

'A couples' therapist's clinical look at how and why we fall in love removes some of the mystery from that most magical of human experiences...Not a how-to guide for the lovelorn but a serious, research-oriented work of special interest to those involved in couples' therapy.' -  Kirkus Reviews

Format: Paperback
This is, or should become, a standard work for all of us. The laborious research that Pines undertook comes across in the first part, which is somewhat statistical. But don't let that put you off because the meal proper begins with Part Two. This is as unputdownable as any thriller and if by the end of it you're not jumping up and down and saying to yourself "So THIS is how it works!" then you're probably already a psychotherapist. In fact I showed mine the chapter on Attachment Theory (never better explained) and he promptly went and ordered two copies himself. Buy this book if you've ever been in love, still are, or are planning to be.

A series of useful studies on love that cast light on this huge subject. It's not a self help book, it really gives you an insight of the psychological mechanisms behind falling in love.
Recommended if you are interested in the subject.
