I couldn't stop reading this first book. Thoroughly enjoyed this adventure and would like to follow the series now. A really nice easy read.

For me, Fallen Out is my favorite Wayne Stinnett novel about the adventures of Jesse McDermitt. It is an introduction to the series, but Fallen Out was written later in the series. I am glad I read this book first since it sets up the remainder of the series. Jesse retires from the United States Marines and heads to Florida. The book shows how Jesse started evolving into the adventurous hero he later became. A lot happens in Fallen Out, and it is one of the most enjoyable books I have ever read. Now, I am two novels behind in the life of Jesse McDermitt. I am planning on catching up very soon. I hope there are many more novels to come.

As a prequel this works well and for anyone new to the series is a good introduction to Jesse’s character. Jesse’s transition from the Marine Corps into the civilian world is authentically told and sets up the rest of his adventures. The drawback of the character development is there is a little less action than I expected, but still enough to keep the pace alive. What I like is that Stinnett doesn’t waste time over-describing surroundings or situations and leaves some of the detail to the reader’s imagination, making it a more personal experience. Fans of the action-adventure genre will definitely approve!

Could be likeable characters, but not much depth to make you actually care. Not much in the way of plot. A lot of ,went fishing, had a beer. Went diving, had a bbq. Went fishing met someone new and had a beer. No suspense , no surprises. The interesting bits could have been more exciting.

If I wanted a guide to the Florida coastline, then this is the book for me. However if I wanted a book with pace and thrills, action and adventure, then this definitely not the book for me. I found this to be an exercise in skim-reading, jumping over whole sections in the hope of finding excitement - but without success.

I've got to the 10th book and there is no more, what am I going to do???? I work lots of hours and have a really busy social life, but somehow over the last 10 or so weeks, I have followed Jesse McDermitts 10 years on the keys and have loved every second. I'm a beach bum and like boats but am not an avid boater. I really enjoyed the settings and boating detail. I feel like I know all the characters personally. Each story is fairly similar but not repetitive and are exciting the whole way through. I'm from Wales and now totally want to go to Florida Keys and find some bars in Marathon or big pine or anywhere really, I've looked at 45 foot rampage images online and want one so much! I think it's fair to say I'm a little obsessed and would highly recommend these books to anyone looking for a bit of everything action, love, crime, treasure etc etc etc. Here's hoping for more..... :)
