So here's the run down with this book. Declan is a human. He likes to be by himself and he has a dog named Liam. Angel is a fallen angel from Heaven (I'm assuming). Declan finds a woman (Angel) one morning completely broken on his morning walk on the beach. When Declan finds her something overcomes him and he is drawn to protect her from the very beginning. Without knowing her name he calls her Angel because she looks like an Angel to him. So Angel basically is in a coma and at the hospital, but Declan doesn't leave her side. While in the hospital Angel has these flashbacks of her life. Her flashbacks involve a demon and the dog that guards the gates of Hell. The connection between Declan and Angel is breathtaking. Angel is innocence and Declan strives to protect that innocence. Declan and and his father start digging with the information that Angel has given to them about her life and what she endured.
This book is a must read! This book has the spice that Eden puts into all her books, but it is done in a completely different format. With this book Eden got me to read about mythology. Very amazing read by Eden. This book made me think. I would have to say that this book is a love/mystery/suspense all rolled into one book!
The MCs, Declan and 'Angel', are broken and damaged, but in completely different ways. Unfortunately, Declan's is more self imposed because of anger and bitterness, but Angel was forced to endure 16 years of torturous confinement. A seemingly innocent walk along the beach, a daily ritual for Declan, and Angel literally falls at his feet....the mystery begins.
While I was intrigued, the story unfolded a bit slowly for me, but the characters were complex and complicated and I believed in their struggles. I was completely amazed with the way Bradley, through Angel's eyes, made me believe in the innocence of love. It was as though experiencing it through the eyes of a child, unconditional and without reservation. It's hard to imagine anyone could survive her ordeal much less come away from it so emotionally enlightened.
My first read by this author, but certainly not my last.
I loved the characters Angel and Declan! Eden does a great job painting you a picture of them with her words. They connection between Angel and Declan is sensual and breathtaking at the same time. I love her innocence and his need to protect her!! It's a must read!!
