Detective Inspector Allen Chase ends up with running three cases simultaneously but are they connected? A run of burglaries, the harassment of an IT executive and the murder of a dominatrix all occupy DI Chase and his assistant, Trainee Detective Constable Lauren Halshaw. They eventually work their way through to a suitable solution.
The writing and plot are engaging and plenty of characters are introduced - many red herrings of course. With a slight soap opera side to it, it's well worth a read

Most "popular" fiction writers these days churn out books so fast, that I find the writing lacking and end up skim-reading the book (if I bother at all). Not so with this book! I savoured the writing style, enjoying the clever use of the English language and vivid descriptions that brought the book alive. The plot kept me guessing all the way, unsure how the threads would all tie together in the end. I can't wait for the next book!

A young woman's flat is burgled and she's receiving hate texts at work. Whilst investigating this a policeman is run down and then a dominatrix is murdered a couple of hours after meeting DI Chase. Trainee DC Halshaw is drafted in to help Chase with all these cases and he finds himself a girlfriend so it's all go on the plot front. To be honest the plot is extremely busy with a myriad of characters and strands and could do with some serious reorganising. For a crime novel there should be more clarification on certain points, fewer loose ends and much less detail on Chase's love life which amounts to little more than unnecessary padding. This is not a bad book and it kept me turning the pages it's just a bit undisciplined.

This is a complex and extremely well thought through whodunnit. A murder may be the central theme, but there's much more than that going on.
The characters are very human and utterly believable, and you can see life's bruises in all of them. In weaving complex emotions so effectively into the book, the author demonstrates a rich and mature insight into human motivation and interaction.
Above all it's a compelling and entertaining read: right to the very end I couldn't work out who the murderer was.
As a Glaswegian of a certain age, I can't read a crime novel without thinking of "TAGGART".
Could I see "FAITHFULLY" as an episode of "TAGGART"? Absolutely!

I have just read this book on holiday and could hardly put it down. I don't usually read crime novels but following a recommendation I gave this a go and read the whole book in 2 days. I'm now really excited that the next in the series is available - Truthfully.

The characters are real and the pace is just right - fast enough to keep your attention but not so that you get lost and confused as is so often the case in other crime novels. Highly recommended.
