Loved, loved, loved this book!

Jade is a freshman in college. A beautiful redhead from an ordinary background. She gets dragged to an illegal poker game by her boyfriend. And ends up being the stake in a round that he loses.

Shep is the one that wins her. He’s one of the gorgeous, rich owners of the gambling business . He’s a junior and has a ‘one and done’ rule when it comes to women. However, the minute he sets eyes on Jade, he’s captivated. Add in the fact that Jade is thoroughly unimpressed with him, and the chase is on.

She’s never met him before but, all of a sudden, he’s everywhere. She can’t deny her attraction to him and he gradually breaks down her reserve.

I loved Jade! She’s sassy and sarcastic and she has no idea how beautiful she is, and is completely mystified by Shep’s interest in her, especially when he can have any girl he wants. Shep find himself acting out of character and liking it! I loved his moments of vulnerability where Jade is concerned, and I was pleased that he was willing to go the distance, even though he wasn’t quite sure of the end destination. Adored this book! Such a great author!

I really enjoyed this book. Monica Murphy has captured my attention with her writing since the One Week Girlfriend series~ Drew and Fable are one of my all time favourite book couples. Sometimes, when you have high expectations of a favourite author, you can be a bit wary as you start reading their new work. Will it match up? Are the characters going to capture your imagination and your heart? Well, Shep and Jade did exactly that. They are both beautifully written characters. The first page snagged my attention and it did not let up. This is one sassy, sexy, steaming HOT read. There is a little angst and drama but it is all well balanced. The warmth, humour and love is all there too. I'm looking forward to more from this series.

I enjoyed the first third of this book and I enjoyed the last third. I did however think the middle third of the book dragged a bit with nothing much seeming to be happening. The book also ends with some seriously unresolved parent issues which would suggest to me that there may be more to come from these characters but I can't find anything to suggest so. Either that or the book has been published with part of the story incomplete which would be a bit weird. Overall it was ok and I will be buying book 2 and 3.

Fair Game is the first book from Monica's new The Rules series. This is a S/A enemies to lovers read with a HFN ending.

I really enjoyed this and read it right through. It's a quick light read.

This is Shep and Jade's story and they definitely had spades and spades of chemistry and their banter provided a real dose of wit throughout.

Happily recommend to anyone who enjoys YA/NA reads.

5 - B!tch face Jade has a solid swing. Stars!

Fair Game is not the first book I have read from Monica Murphy, I know for sure it won’t be the last either, but it is the best book I have ever read by her.

There's something about this girl that I think... might be worth waiting for."

Sometimes when you start reading a new book, you know from the first page that you are at the beginning of something special, there’s that little tingle in your tummy, the infamous ’One More Chapter’ filters through the subconscious the whole time you are immersed in the characters and their story as it is unfolding, that was me with Shep and Jade's story, couldn’t put it down.

”Pay up. I won that hand. I won you.”

This isn’t a short book, but it didn’t feel long in its reading, I absolutely adored the initial love/hate between these two, ‘man who**' versus mouthy 'Miss Prim'. I would be lying if I said I hadn’t read a lot of similar books to the themes that featured with Jade and Shep’s story, but it all just worked perfectly for me, I got involved, I got lost in the reading and I fell in love with this couple as they fell in love with each other. The challenges they faced together, the s3xy-times, the snark and sarcasm of their conversations were just an absolute joy to read.

Being the first book in The Rules series, I am interested to see where Monica takes us next, In the Dark, Gabe’s book is due in August, and Slow Play, due November 2015, are certainly reads that I will be waiting impatiently to get my hands on.

”There’s something to be said for anticipation.”

ARC generously provided by the author, and it was my absolute pleasure to provide the above honest review.

~~One of the best books I have read in 2015 so far.~~

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Jacquie / Scandalous Book Blog***

This is the first book in the new “The Rules” series and we are off to a super start.
Jade Frost’s boyfriend takes her to an illegal gambling house where she catches the eye of campus rich boy and manwhore Shepard Preston.
When her boyfriend gambles on Jade and Shep wins her in the bet she is mortified and decides to avoid Shep at all costs which is not easy as what Shep wants he gets.
I expected this book to be aimed at a slightly younger audience and I was pleasantly surprised to have enjoyed it as much as I did.
Shep is rich, loudmouthed and obnoxious and I couldn’t wait for him to meet his match in the sassy, funny Jade.
I loved that we got to see how their relationship developed and it wasn’t all about the sex for once. The attraction between them was a joy to read and the whole book was a delight to read so much so that I stayed up and did it in one session.
I did feel that we needed to know more about Shep and Jade and how they cope with their obvious problems with their parents and I hope we revisit these two in the other books. It would be nice to see his friends getting a taste of their own medicine and fall in love.
Overall I loved the book and can’t wait for the other’s in the series.
