I had high hopes for this book especially with how Kevin was described as a character by his brother though I understood after what he went through he was not going to be the same but in my mind that made him even more interesting alas I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
Quibbles: First of all both Edie and Kev annoyed at certain times of the book though Edie annoyed me almost throughout the book apart from the start. I was disappointed in Kev who never even after 23 years thought about finding his family and I hated his adoptive father of how he treated Kev when he found him, he did absolutely nothing to help a kid who was tortured not only physically but mentally instead kept that one piece of thing that might have helped him find and safely return to his family. The whole pace of the book felt wrong to me it terms that there should have an feeling of urgency especially in the Mcclouds family when they found out Kev was alive but it was not there they just calmly went through normal day to day stuff when they should have been looking for a brother who they thought was DEAD, then Kev saying he was going to find his family then doing nothing about it...especially when Edie mentioned his brothers to him. There were also few plot holes that bugged me.
Overall it was ok read, it had suspense, romance and fights etc that should have made it a good read but it did not work for me sadly.
The book took a while to get in to, but once it settled, about a third in, it set my heart racing. Shannon doing her best, bringing the characters to life and intergrating all the brothers new and old stories.
I absolutley loved the book and was glad to read Kev's story, to see him find himself, his true love and his brothers. The romance, the suspence, the action, the sex everything was there and I couldn't stop reading til the last page turned.
I have read all the McCloud books and hope there is more to come, but if not this was a good ending as everyone's story is complete.
5 stars to Shannon Mckenna, the McCloud brothers, friends and family. I will certainly be re-reading this book soon.
soon they are being chased by trained soldiers who want to take them prisoner to experiment on them using the XCOG interface that enables the controller complete access of the other person just like a puppetier and kev and edie are fighting to save eachother and get kevs memory back.
What follows is a fantastic thriller that has lots of hot romance and non stop action and i read the whole book in a couple of days it was so good, i was drawn into the story from the very first page and i wanted to keep reading it over and over again when id finished it all. I just live this series
Perhaps I've come to the end of the line, as other reviewers don't seem to agree.....
Only criticism is of the proof reader - so many typos, you could tell this was a rush job.
