I've got Barbara Robert's book and found it a useful way to help me understand people quickly. I practice one skill a week, such as reading eyebrows. Just going through the checkout line at Home Depot, I noticed the clerk had arched eyebrows, plus a slight widow's peak. I asked if it was ok to read the character in his face based on the facereading lessons I was learning. He said, "Yes." So I said, You have a widow's peak in your hairline, which would indicate you are creative and prefer to wear blue jeans. Is this true? He said, "Yes!" Then I mentioned his arched eyebrows would indicate an interested in drama. This truly amazed him. He said, "I played the lead in several plays in high school and haven't done anything since then!" I let him know he might want to consider community theatre. His face lit up and it was clear that I had made his day.
But whether I like these people or not, their facial characteristics tell me what kind of people they are. Knowing this really helps me communicate more effectively, and which in turn has helped my business grow.
