took them out the other day, the real is fit for purpose so net time I will put it on me beach caster rod and give it a good run out. The rob on the other hand is ok as a basic level ( and I do mean basic level.. ok for kids ) as a telescopic rod I would say if performed ok but it is way to sensitive in high winds or strong current i.e. Estuaries or tidal rivers as you might struggle to see a real knock on the line.. but to be fair .. at the price not too bad . If you want better rods you just have to spend a bit more.
Great beach rod and reel. Folds down to a neat manageable size. Have used it on a number of occasions both from the beach and pier and it has performed well (wish the same could be said of the fish) The reel has a smooth action and have experienced no snagging of the 40lb line. Well made and great value.

A fantastic rod and reel set. The delivery from FTD was excellent - next day delivery. I phoned with a query and their staff were extremely helpful and friendly. I will certainly be buying from them again.
First of all, I'm not a professional fisher. Actually, I feel a bit shameful even calling myself an amateur fisher, but was advised that this telescopic rod was perfect for a beginner doing a bit of sea mackerel fishing.
To my untrained eye, my first impression was that the reel was of a good, study quality, and that the rod seemed very light and fragile. However, I was assured that this was adequate as I was going after relatively light fish (mackerel). I got some whoops from the guys for having a flashy telescopic rod, as theirs were all fixed length, and more cumbersome. However, fate would provide them the last laugh, as after about an hour, I heard a dreadful crack upon casting the rod. The not-so-fancy telescopic rod had simply snapped under the duress of casting a hook with half a worm on it.
Floppy rod in hand, I was forced to pose for several Facebook pictures, before I was given the time to give the poor fella a post-mortem. I made sure that it had been fully extended, without wiggle room for tension in the rod to build, but everything seemed to be in order - It just snapped!
Hey...i think the rood is quite heavy---- after 1hour of macrell fishing(long throws) you need a bag of ice on your shoulder, but for beach fishing should be fine, Reel is also big comparing to my other reels, its solid , working well and has 0.5mm line on it witch is good for deep sea fishing. Some parts of my rod are dmamaged by saltwater,so its your choice. In this price you could try to find something less heavy and maybe better reel ? Lets say for 40£. I found a nice sea reel for 15£ in a local store ,so finding a rood for another 15-20£ should be easy. Again probably good equipment for something bigger than macrells, but i diddint catch anything ells using this rod,and then i swap for my old cheap rood witch was lighter ;)
