In terms of design and style you won't be disappointed. The combination of stainless steel and black gloss on the face is an attractive one along with the with flawless glass casing. The dial itself is a perfect size - I have small wrists and find it difficult to find a watch that actually fits and looks like it is in the correct proportion. In terms of design it offers an understated yet striking element which pleases the eye and sits well.
The price is slightly higher than I would have liked. I suspect this has more to do with the brand name than anything else as the strap (while comfortable) and even the box seem to be on the cheap side of the scale, which is a real shame considering the quality of the dial.
At the end of the day it's a simple yet simplistic and stylish watch - personally I really like it and feel that it's an almost perfect day to day watch. If the price was to drop then it would offer better value for money, as it stands however you are unlikely to be disappointed.
This is a decently sized watch, with the face section feeling sturdy and well made. The face itself is round and 1.25inches/ 3.2 cm in diameter with a silver coloured frame of around 4mm surrounding this. There are three hands, which are all black and the seconds hand has a red tip on it. There are no numbers on this watch, but there are very noticeable silver lines at each point where these would usually be. It is really easy to see the time. There is a single silver dial on the right of the face, to allow you to adjust the hands.
On the back of this section is engraved 'French Connection' and this is also written in small font across the mid section of the face, between where the 10 and 2 markers lie. Near the bottom of the face '1972' is written in red, but this is barely noticeable. The background of this section is a mid grey, which I personally really like. I feel it suits the watch well and I do prefer darker colours. This combination of matte grey and silver has proven good even in lower lighting and I find the watch easy to read. I think this watch would be wearable for any occasion.
Whilst the main body of the watch feels good quality- I do feel the strap could be better. The PU is ok, but feels a little flimsy and I don't like the loop near the clasp on this watch. This is fixed in place and makes it trickier/ more fiddly to get on than most watches, where this loop can move up and down the strap. There is a movable loop too, but I feel that the watch only really needs this and not both. There are 8 notches on this strap, so it will suit most wrist sizes, but I am not confident that these won't wear through after a longer period of wear. I feel a leather strap would have improved this watch and helped it be worth the price tag. The inside of the strap is a fawn colour and is fairly soft and feels nice on the wrist. 'French Connection' is again emblazoned on this.
Overall- this is a nice enough watch. It is water resistant and looks decent- understated and suiting most settings. I do feel it could be better with a different strap though. This is great for day to day wear, but at this price I think you are paying a little extra for the brand name.
The box this watch comes in in lovely and overall this is nicely presented, so would be good as a gift. From personal experience there are slightly better quality watches in this price range, especially if you are not bothered about it being branded.
