I bought this torch for law enforcement work in the UK. I've worked nights for most of adult life, and as such have always been looking for the flashlight which best suits my needs.

Construction / Build Quality - Excellent. I've never been let down by a fenix torch despite regular and intensive use. Some of the smaller single cell Fenix models do not appear to be as well made. The PD35, however, has thick walls, and feels solid and well engineered. There is a youtube review which shows the buttons being pressed while the torch is submerged in running water - a reassuring thought on a wet night shift!!!

Design - Levels are well spaced. The eco mode (10 lumens I think) is great for most tasks at night, such as map reading without dazzling myself or my colleagues. The battery lasts for days on this mode : ) In complete darkness, very little light is actually needed, therefore the eco mode is the one which I most frequently use. The torch can be "locked out" to prevent accidental activation by unscrewing the tailcap 1/4 of a turn. The pocket clip is strong and can be aligned to point at the mode switch, making the switch easier to find in the dark.

Beam - The best feature of this light is the beam. Compared to most other 2 x CR123 flashlights, it is lightly wider. This is subjective, but I own a few flashlights which feature thin beams which throw a great distance. The heads of these torches are wider to accommodate the larger reflector, making them more difficult to carry comfortably. Also, in complete darkness, using a thin beam is like looking down a tube, and whatever you're searching for can be missed. While searching a footpath or the inside of a car for evidence, seeing a hotspot the size of a tennis ball flying around gets annoying.

Fantastic torch I've used every day since I got it. Lowest modes are perfect for most everyday tasks and if you really need illumination the 850 lumen max turbo mode is literally blindingly bright and will throw like a monster illuminating clearly a good 60 meters infront of you easy. Tough, durable, waterproof, high throw with a great belt compatible carry pouch.. what else do you need?

I got this light for review on the Ireland's Wildlife website and it absolutely blew me away.

Build quality is top notch, and performance is nothing short of staggering for such a small torch. It is small enough to slip in a pocket or on your belt and forget about it -- but when needed it delivers more light than most torches several times its size and weight. It's versatile too -- with five different brightness modes and a strobe setting, so you can get just the right amount of light for practically any situation.

Hats off to Fenix, this is a phenomenal piece of kit that I'd highly recommend to anyone who needs a solid, reliable, take-anywhere light with power to spare.

I don't think I can include a link here -- but if you google Ireland's Wildlife PD35 you'll find my full length review.

I have a Fenix torch already (LD20) and I wanted a robust unit that does the job of being bright, which this certainly does, has a long throw without too much loss of brightness, which this does and takes CR18650 and CR123 batteries, which this does. It is a quality item, that fits in my hand and pocket. In my opinion its better than the Nitecore and Fenix have a very good name for quality. I was tempted and still am for a LD22 and a PD32. If you are an average user then maybe something less expensive will do you but if you are a gadget person and want quality I don't think there is anything better than the PD35 at the moment.

I must admit I use this to make my way to the outhouse at a cottage in the Stockholm archipelago. It is a wonderful powerful little light which keeps me from disturbing the "hug orms", biting snakes.

Hugely bright - on the top settings far too much so for most situations, but the different settings give a brightness for every situation. Excellent quality, lightweight. Very impressed.

Amazing little torch that lights up a good chunk of the park in bright white light when walking the dogs at night. Has 5 brightness settings and a strobe mode which would disorientate any would be attacker allowing you to get away. Also fits nicely in my coat pocket, where it stays so I've always got it at the ready. The 2014 version of this torch has an upgraded 960 lumens on brightest mode. I have many torches of various shapes, sizes and brightness levels, this one is the clear all rounder and if I had to chuck them all away and keep one, this would easily be it.
