But a bit wishy washy for me. Cover is misleading

I enjoy reading about these topics to learn more about my craft and engage with others' perspectives. I was excited to check something like this out.

It's a quick read with some good tips and practical explorations. As someone with a background in psychology, I appreciated some of the themes it touched on, but didn't find them to be new concepts for myself. They probably would be for others, though.

I would say this would be a great read for someone with a bit of an intermediate skill set, who has gotten started in some ways with research but could use more advice putting things into action. It's always hard to write a book like this because the best way to learn is by doing, but doing without first researching is irresponsible. I think this strikes a good balance.

5.0 out of 5 stars I need a Vanilla Version of the advice in this book!
Reviewed in the United States on 10 September 2022

My initial thought while reading the book was "I need the vanilla version of this book, because I need to be using these communication concepts in my day job. And saying I learned it from a 'how to' Femdom book would probably be a bad idea." The author does a great job of communicating the most important concept, which is "the submissive has to want to fix this." In my day job, I've lost a lot of energy and time trying to get others to want to fix things that they did not want to fix. And, understanding this concept might have saved me a lot of lost sleep and frustration. I appreciate the author taking the time to put this book together and I look forward to applying these ideas to all my relationships. Femdom or otherwise. And, I look forward to gaining some of the self awareness the author appropriately recognizes can sometimes be absent in people, and especially a submissive trying to get more attention from a Dom.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rare gem

In a sea of man pleasing femdom manuals, long term scene regular, lifestyle domme and mentor to thousands of people, Ferns, creates a rare thing, a manual for dominant women that assumes you actually want to do this for you.

With practical, down to earth tips, this book is no porn disguised as a how to, it's about the common mistakes in the conversation about getting what you want and how to make your boundaries firm and understood.

Pithy, witty and charming, Ferns offers options I would have given my right arm to have had as a baby domme.

5.0 out of 5 stars I FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK
Reviewed in the United States on 12 December 2019
    Format: Kindle EditionVerified Purchase
The first thing that stood out to me is the book’s excellent structure, context, and graphics. The structure provides a smooth and easy to follow process beginning with the types of disobedience and includes building on the foundation of the relationship, all the way through to follow-up after resolving the disobedience. The reason this book is unique from other books is Ferns didn’t just address how to resolve a submissive’s resistance to a Dominant’s instruction, but she peels back each layer like an onion to examine the core of the issue and then shows how to rebuild it. I love the book’s emphasis on building and repairing the foundation of the relationship and the follow-through after the issue is resolved.

I couldn't get through the first chapter it was so boring and drawn out. Felt like reading one of those click bait articles. Won't be reading the rest of the collection.
