Bought this in readiness for visit next year and having read through it twice I am confident that I will be able to plan my sightseeing tour to ensure I see as much as possible during my visit.
Very clearly written, easy to follow and no jargon - everything you need in a guide

This little book would easily fit into a pocket, and be very handy when actually sightseeing in St Petersburg; and is as well-designed as one would expect from this publisher. I don't think it would be adequate for planning a sightseeing trip - but I don't think it was designed or intended for that - and other, larger books (from DK or other publishers) fill that need.

The fold-out map is (approximately) 12 inches / 30 centimetres by 14 inches / 36 centimetres. One side is headed "St Petersburg" (with a small inset of the surrounding area); and the other side has maps headed "Central St Petersburg" and "Transport Map" (each occupying about a quarter of the sheet), and a street index.

I'm going to Russia in January and purchased this guide to supplement my sightseeing. I wanted something small and light to carry around. Normally when a guide is advertised as pocket sized it is smaller than average but still won't actually fit in your pocket. The one I bought for Rome weighed a tonne and I ended up leaving it in the hotel room. This one however was a bit of a shock when it arrived as it actually is tiny! It will fit very nicely into my jean pocket and has just enough information on the major sights. The downside is that the text is also and its a bit fiddly to use in general - so this is not for you if you can't read small text without a magnifying glass.Haven't had the chance to test the product on holiday yet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Map I'll Use 4 April 2013

This compact map is about half the size of a mans wallet. with a foldout map of the city it clearly show the main sights of the city, the subway system and main roads. Also included is a tourists guide to the popular attractions which is divided into the various sections of the city. So you can see whats nearby whatever part of St.Petersburg your in. The only drawback about this handy little map is that it is paper. So if it gets wet it will probably tear. Besides that its great and I plan on using it on my trip next month.

Russia is so confusing anyway, but this map of St. Petersburg helped us get around to the sites we needed. There is an abbreviated section for all the basic sites.

Three days in St. Petersburg and this book helped us to see all that we could see in short time. Glad we bought it.
