Format: Hardcover
The photographs in this book were put together by Richard Cahan, who also compiled the marvellous book "Vivian Maier - Out of the Shadows".
For those new to Vivian Maier's photography and story, Shadows is a more appropriate book to buy first, (as is Maloof's Street Photographer) as it shows a broader selection of her amazing work, and explains with more text the story of how the photographs came to light.
Eye to Eye wakes a great companion volume though, here Cahan has only chosen photographs in which, as the title suggests, the subjects meet the photographer eye to eye. As in his first book, the photographs haven't been cropped or changed, they are as they were discovered, which makes Maier's eye for a memorable shot even more impressive.

Disappointed. Not recommended. John Maloofs books on Vivian Maier are 100x better. I think this is probably partly because he had thousands more to choose from and also he did a better job with processing each photo and I love their arrangement in Jahn Maloof's books of Vivian Maier.

HASH(0x953f2dbc) out of 5 stars Extraordinary look at ordinary people 21 Jan. 2015
By Neil The Unreel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
There are the famous photographers like Henri Cartier-Bresson, Dorothea Lange, and Eugene Smith and their work speaks for themselves, but Maier was a total unknown and her portraits from the streets of Chicago, to Yemen, to the Philippines, speak for themselves as well. This is the second book of her's that I have viewed and the work just grows on you. She never published a photo in her lifetime and what a shame. These photographs are different than the views of her "Street Photographer" book. She captures people at their best and most vulnerable. My favorite is iconic - an elderly businessman complete with suit, tie and reading glasses, looking up with Wall Street Journal precisely as Maier snapped the shot. Mesmerizing look at people on several continents caught for a brief moment.

We saw the very interesting documentary about the artist, which featured some of her pictures. The photos selected for the book, however, were not as interesting as those shown in the movie.
