About the Author

Michelle Paver was born in Malawi in 1960 and moved to England when she was three. After gaining a degree in biochemistry from Oxford, she became a partner in a City law firm, but gave that up to write full-time. To research her stories about animals and the distant past, she has travelled in the Arctic, the Mediterranean and Egypt, swum with dolphins and killer whales, and encountered bears, boars and wolves. She is the author of the internationally bestselling Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, the final book of which won the 2010 Guardian Children's Fiction Prize. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Michelle Paver never fails! Why is she not as famous as J.K. Rowling?! She is a far better writer on every level. My son and I adored The Chronicles of Ancient Darkness, which I read to him when he was younger. He doesn't read books now, so I've read the 3 books in this series on my own, and, again, feel I have learnt so much about an ancient civillisation, whilst being totally involved in the characters. I loved the chapters written from Wolf's perspective in the other series, and am enjoying those from the different animal in this one.

Michelle Pager continues to achieve the impossible, turning a lesson in a multidimensional anthropological subject matter into a fast paced grappling thriller. It is fascinating and absolutely unputdownable.

Although mainly a book for children this is still an entertaining and fun read for adults as well. I have read all the Wolf Brother and Gods and Warriors books to my wife out loud and both of us think they are excellent stories. Paver manages to keep the readers interest and her knowledge of the animal kingdom and the Bronze Age is fantastic. I especially like the way she takes the POV of the animals and weaves them into the stories. I know these are good books because every time I finish one I am already looking for the next one. Keep going Ms Paver!

I found this a very enjoyable read that at least for an adult doesn't require any effort. It is a simple enough story but the author has spent some time seeking to portray the effect on simple people of a cataclysmic natural event which I found very interesting.

Another excellent older child/competent readers book! Very frustrating to reach the end and find there is another in the series to be published in 2015!

Delightful - finished reading it in one go. Much more exciting, finally getting back to the same depth of storyline as the Wolf Brother series.
