Format: Paperback
In the world of embroidery, the late Julia Caprara was known for colour. In this lavishly produced 80-page book, she explores painting with stitches. Julia explores colour around us. In chapter one she encourages you how to see, observe and record as well as make colour collections. To achieve a greater understanding of colour, Julia invites you to participate in exercises and practical tasks to explore colour to the full.

Chapter two goes deeper and looks at colour theory and how to use harmonies, contrasts and work with one family of colour. In chapter three, Julia looks at working within limits and explores some stitches. Chapter four is dedicated to inspiration and finding your own colour schemes.

Julia's work is plentiful throughout the book and is truly amazing. d4daisy have given this book the incredible level of production that is their norm - quality throughout with Michael Wicks' magnificent photography. I don't know of any other book quite like this one - informative, practical, inspiring.

This is an exquisite book and a must for anyone with a love of colour. The author, who died last year, has long been revered in the world of art textiles for her use of colour and her simple, accessible techniques. The book comprises a series of workshops and projects - but not projects in the "make a greetings card" variety. Here Julia Caprara shows you how to make colour books, textile samples and stitch collections using colour to bring everything alive. The book is not long but every page glows with the author's enthusiasm and passion. It is enhanced by well laid out text and beautiful vibrant illustrations. The book would suit textile artists and craftspeople working with colour and is suitable for a full range of abilities from beginner to experienced artist. A wonderful addition to my bookshelves and a great tragedy that there will be no more from this amazing tutor and artist.

Sadly Julia Caprara's last book. It is a fantastic book for the more experienced embroiderer as it shows you how to record, interpret and working your ideas, making them your own, but does not give you exact stitch details or how to work the stitches, but Julia included wonderful examples of her own work, so well worth while.
Highly recmommended +++++
