Format: Paperback
The book is a brilliant introduction to some of the more advanced topics in PHP/MySQL development. I read this book cover-to-cover in one weekend and found it easy going and very informative. It touches on everything from PHP design patterns to performance, scalability and security and it goes in to detail about how various popular open source packages can be used together to drive a high-traffic website/application. I recommend this book to anybody involved in developing large-scale web applications. Even if you consider yourself an expert in PHP/MySQL you will find this book of interest for it's coverage of supplementary technologies, which should at the very least get you interested enough to study a more specific topic further.

Well what can i say about this book other than it rocks. I was ready to develop my idea confident in the knowledge that i could build it but then i read this book and it introduced me to a whole host of topics that i did not even begin to consider. I thought my SQL and PHP skills were ok but this took them up a notch, with topics such as caching, security, mod-rewrite, advanced SQL, advanced php to name but a few this text is a must read for anyone with the next brilliant high traffic site idea or someone who develops/runs an existing high traffic site.

The book itself was published in 2010 but it's as relevant in 2013 as it was back then.

Definitely not for novices.

I bought this book with expectations! What I've got a book with full of mistakes. At the beginning of the book you've not even reached the 60th page and there are countless coding mistakes! Which is annoying, cause I spent hours to find and fix them one by one!
If you decide to buy this book, I would suggest for you to download all of the code examples first, cause those you can find in the book are useless!

The book was delivered promptly before Xmas. Sadly, my son already had a copy so I had to return it and this was done very easily and with no fuss. I am very happy with all aspects of the deal.
