I cannot pay it fully by credit card, have to pay part of credit card and part of amazon gift card.
► Over the years, OEM has gotten far more complex, and this book reflects that growing complexity. EXPERT ORACLE ENTERPRISE MANAGER begins with an overview of the architecture of the tool, then quickly gets into the installation and setup in Chapter 2. The configuration of the OMS and repository naturally comes next. None of this is trivial, and the authors spend a large amount of time explaining this setup.
► Since OEM is a GUI tool, there are not a lot of scripts. Not surprising, since the purpose of OEM is to make life simpler for the DBA. There's a few scripts provided when needed.
► For me, one of the more useful chapters was the fairly large Chapter 4, "Interacting with the EMC12C Console." Screenshots cover everything from logging in to how to customize your setup. There are some sample metrics displays (such as CPU, Active Sessions, etc).
► The main complaint I have is that the quality of the screenshots is a little off--hence only the 4-Star rating. They are generally readable, of course, but a little on the fuzzy side. For example, the screenshot of "OEM Business Service Manager" is pretty blurry, and it's tough to make out the detail. Similarly, the screenshot on the prior page is poor. So, in this regard, I think the quality lags a bit; but admittedly, that is a bit on the picky side, and not too big of an issue. That is the only formatting gripe that I have.
√ All in all, EXPERT ORACLE ENTERPRISE MANAGER 12C is a clear, well-written book on a complicated GUI tool. It's very understandable that a team of writers would be used to write this book. If you want a "quickie" intro book just to get an overview of OEM, this is not the right book. However, if you want a more detailed book that you can use as a reference, this is a good choice. Recommend!
