Prodigy ~ Experience
Top Customer Reviews
So, the Prodigy Experience was their first LP, a slamming, acid tinged, breakbeat infused dance album with the prerequisite sampled sound bites and enough innovation and masterful mixing to make it an absolute winner.
The Expanded album is, in itself, a must buy. I snapped it up simply for the fairground remix of 'Everybody in the Place', which is one of my favourite rave tracks of all time and had a feel of illicit night time behaviour as my only access to it was on old school analogue sky tv when mtv actually placed music.
The rest of the tracks are similarly strong and the remixes have enough variety to make this feel more than just a cynical cash-in.
But still, its the original album which even now sends shivers down the spine and does not sound aged nor does it induce a tinge of embarrassment when played out loud.
Listening to the album afresh after so long the one track that stands out above the rest (itself a feat as they are all so strong) is the Weather Experience. Never has the voice of Michael Fish induced such ripples of pleasure.
This is an ageless album whose appeal should not lie in the aging ravers out there but must be a touchstone for anyone interested in listening to the voice and sounds of an era.
Classic, classless, brilliant.
The first CD is an absolute belter. Some of the sounds and samples do sound like they came out of the 90's in terms of the various pianos and synth sounds however the breaks are timeless.
The running of the album blends all the different tracks and it really is an album you can just let run. All of the tracks are different using varying sounds and textures to bring together an hour of some of best dance music and one best dance albums of all time.
If you're not into your dance music or prefer the more eclectic mix of the sounds from Prodigy's later stuff then this may not be for you.
