HASH(0x947d09c0) out of 5 stars Good Focus on Exam Objectives 22 May 2013
By TKNTX - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I'm finding this book a good resource for focusing on exam objectives and finding further information. The typos don't really bother me so much..in fact I haven't noticed it to the point that I cared. But what worries me is that I found a confusing answer to one of the test your knowledge questions in the book (location 1124). It states that DISM can't be used to create a new image but everything I read on Microsoft's technet states DISM is used to capture a new .wim file ie: dism /capture-image. And in fact the books correct answer is ImageX but this tool is deprecated in Windows 8. So it seems like a mistake in the book and makes me wonder about the content. However, since it's the only questionable information I've found so far, it's not enough to make me give it a low star count. Anyway, it's too late for me to get an answer on the topic since I'm taking the test tomorrow. Maybe if I'm not too embarrassed, I'll update with how I did on the test. :)
Ok, I passed! I think this book helped, I used in conjunction with technet and measureup.

Book is on par with other official textbooks from Microsoft, but is lacking a disc with practice exams from MeasureUp.

HASH(0x947d0bd0) out of 5 stars Typos Galore 11 May 2013
By Enriquemh - Published on Amazon.com

The amount of typos in this book is awful. It almost gets to the point of becoming a fill in the blanks workbook.

The contents and the way the authors treat the subject is OK. Publisher has a major quality issue on the kindle edition that makes reading unpleasurable.

HASH(0x947d0ec4) out of 5 stars Good Prep Book 9 Aug. 2013
By Don - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
I just passed the exam, partly due to reading this book. I thought the authors did a good job organizing and providing the required content in a concise manner. There were typos in the book ( I am sure they know by now), but this did not take away from the content. The authors were knowledgeable and got to the important concepts and points without wasting time. I particularly enjoyed the section called, "Thought Experiment" on each chapter. It forced me to think about applying what I learned in the real world type scenarios, i.e., thought provoking. MSFT cert exams, in my opinion, have gotten tougher over the years, and 70-687 is no exception. The exam was rigorous. This book definitely helped. I would recommend the book. It is worth your money and time.

HASH(0x947d0f24) out of 5 stars I'm not impressed with this book, but at the end it's OK. 19 Feb. 2014

I bought this book to study and pass exam 70-687.
This book is not only materijal which you need to pass exam.

There is some mistakes in book.

Also I read another two books "Introducion Windows 8 for IT Pro" and "Introduction Winodws 8.1 for IT Pro". Also I use Internet to learn a lot of new things, which isnt part of this book. After that I passed 70-687.

This book isnt sufficiently for passing Windows 8.1

I'm not impressed with this book, but at the end it's OK.
