I just love it when I find a book by pure dumb luck that's as terrific as this! It makes me have faith in my own judgement selecting books rather than relying on recommendations or reviews.

I also love books that have strong men who don't grunt their ways through the story. The word alpha has burned itself out for me so I'm always chuffed when I just find a man in a book who's all man - flaws, fears, mistakes and all. No arrogance, no crazy possessiveness, no dominance. Just a strong man with as many worries and sucesses as normal. Here we have Bobby who is just a guy trying his best to keep himself on the right side of the law, taking jobs where he's lucky enough to find them until he meets Carly. And she's lovely! Rich yes, but not perfect. Just a nice woman who happens to have a rich dad. Anyway with them comes a good supporting story that covers a decent length of time to play out. So in a fictional story such as theirs, that length of time gives their relationship credibility.

I loved this book!!! I've never read from either authors before so I'm a bit perplexed as to where to turn to find another novel by either of these two with this kind of writing and characters. But I'll definitely be making it my business to find which book I want next from them.

Highly recommended !! Fabulous find and I can't urge you enough to read.

I missed something in this book, I’m not saying that I didn’t like it but that I read it feeling as if I was missing a key element and it wasn’t until I got to the end that I was able to shake my head and flick back through, still wondering what exactly it was that I was looking for.
Anyway after a day or so I have come to the conclusion that I was missing time.
It was a fast paced read – yep and in normal circumstances that is never a bad thing, it keeps me engaged and the action just keeps on coming but in this instance I sort of got the feeling that it was going too fast for the characters, I wanted Bobby and Carly to slow down, relax and enjoy and I’m not 100% certain that the story gave them the opportunity to do that.
From almost the minute the bumped into each other their situation was frenetic.
Now I get and I like a woman that knows her own mind and she knew that she wanted Bobby but she was like a dog with a bone, jeez woman stop and take a breath at some point!
I did like the fact that she wasn’t deterred by his past, by his criminal record or by the opinions that others had of him but surely his opinion should have been taken into consideration. I got the feeling that he was desperately trying to find a way out of the whole body guard offer, so she offered enough money to ensure he couldn’t say no.
Now that I wasn’t comfortable with.
I initially thought that getting her own way was more important to her and that is not a path I wanted either of them to travel down. But she partially redeemed herself as the book progressed although I will hands down say she is not entirely my cup of tea.
I suppose if I had to sum it up I would say that I liked Bobby, he was a strong man, not because of what he had been through but despite of it.

The story line the characters obviously over the top but that's all romance books, the part I found a bit disappointing was the end it felt very rushed compared to rest of the book, think a little more could have been done with it.

I've just finished reading this book and have immediately come to write a review, I don't review every book I read, just the best ones.
I've never read a whole book before that was written from the lead male character's pov, plus it's written in the first person.
I thoroughly enjoyed every page, it wasn't fantasy, or far fetched, I feel that the events could actually happen.
How can you like a convicted self confessed murderer, very easily when it's Bobby.
Give this book a read, it's well worth the time and money spent on it.

Wow. . what a strong powerful story. Bobby Cantrell is an ex con but he has served his time. He meets Carly Prince by chance and becomes her bodyguard, instant chemistry. This story is heavy going at times but it has to be so you see who and what Bobby is. Life can be tough but that's life. Really good story and different from the norm but I loved it.

I read the book on the basis of reviews from other readers and I wasn't disappointed. A great read - told from the male POV and written really well by both authors. A different story in that the heroine, Carly was rich whilst the hero, Bobby is broke and an ex-con who makes no excuses about who he is and why he went to prison.

A brilliant stand alone novel penned by MS Parker and Shiloh Walker a marvellous writing duo. Bobby never denied his past as in he is an ex con who has served his time but will people let him forget it and turn over a new leaf....no! Carly needed protection and Bobby is hopefully it. Can he protect Carly? Can he save himself? Will Carly be there for him or him for her? Will Bobby give up his future to fix his past? A must read....read as an ARC for an honest review.

This is the first book I've read from these particular authors. From the blurb alone my interest was piqued and I was eager to start reading.

Bobby Cantrell Ex-Con, convicted killer. Down and out on his luck, struggling with trying to be accepted back into society after serving his time for the crime he committed. After losing yet another job he thinks his luck has finally run out...until he meets her. Carly Prince gorgeous, untouchable and everything Bobby want buts knows he can never have...or can he? Maybe just maybe he's found someone who sees the good in him when he can't. What he can't do is escape his past. A past that is now threatening to destroy the new life he is building for himself, and threaten those who he has come to care about. Can he protect them or will he end up with more blood on his hands...

Although I quite enjoyed this book, for me personally it didn't really pick up the pace until around 85% of the book which up until that point it had been quite a slow build up, sometimes a little repetitive however, that being said I couldn't put the book down. Initially told through Bobby's POV we get an insight to his thoughts and feelings and daily struggles at dealing with life on the outside after serving his time in prisons. I enjoyed the dynamics in the relationship between Booby and Carly and thought as characters they were connectable and had depth. The plot line was also enjoyable, as I've said a little slow for me but again there was still enough going on to keep you interested. I thought the secondary characters also had depth to them and were connectable. I enjoyed the banter between the primary and secondary characters and laughed out loud a few times.

Overall an enjoyable read. Would recommend to readers who enjoy a slow building, suspenseful read.
