The first movie looks like a polished DVD at best. Even though it's classed as Blu-ray. I'll let that one go since the movie is so old and how it was made on a small budget. Unlike bigger studios who's movies of the same time look great when transfered to Blu-ray. The second movie is the best of the 3 in terms of picture and sound. The picture is really sharp and sound is top notch. So much so I had to keep turning the volume down every time a silly moo screamed. Then I had to turn the volume back up. I did this as it was after midnight and I didn't want to annoy the through the wall neighbour haha The third and final movie of the trilogy is only slighty better in terms of picture than the original movie. Yes it's the newest of the three and yet it's almost on par with the original movie's picture in places. The one part that is SO poor in terms of picture is the pit fight. When Campbell is down in the pit (near the start). You can see horizontal steak like lines in the background on screen. The trained eye can spot them a mile off. This never happened in the DVD version. So it's a poor transfer to Blu-ray. The average joe might not even notice them. It's still a worthy purchase for the price it's at at the moment. Under £13. I'd have paid that for Evil Dead 2 alone due to it's picture and sound being what it is.
EDIT: The streak like markings in the background in A.O.D mentioned earlier they appear again as Evil Ash sits on his horse getting ready to issue an attack on the castle. So it's not a one off in the pit moment. That's a poor transfer for a Blu-ray. Just watch the standard definition version in the extras. It has more dialogue which is missing from the Blu-ray version as well.

Filmed on a shoestring budget using friends and family it's still amazing after all these years. This is the best edition I've seen it looks great on blu ray and they have edited out most of the "bad" cuts and added a couple of new ones.. Sam raimi and Bruce Campbell are pure gold...!!

I bought this collection to replace DVD copies. I love this entire series but the ine that stands out for me is Evil Dead 2. So much gore :D. Army of Darkness is the funniest and most over the top.

Evil Dead 1 & 2 are simply brilliant.
Hadn’t seen Army of Darkness for years but it hasn’t travelled at all well.
Not a patch on the first 2.

the first film in the Blu-ray release has seen a lot of digital changes and with no untampered with version on this Blu-ray a lot of the cheap student feel of the evil dead is lost on this release, these films are still excellent and must watches to anyone with a passing interest in horror or cinema in general but I should imagine cinema fans especially will be happier with the original release version mistakes, hoaky effects and all.

The evil dead trilogy is a must see for it's horror and comedy elements becouse it will knock you all around your house and make you suspicious of your right hand. The trilogy is directed by Sam Raimi (the Spider man trilogy) and stars Bruce Campbell (Maniac cop 1&2.)The first is soon to be re-made and unfortunetly their won't be a sequel. I plan on getting this in the next week or two but I have seen the movies which I am going to discuss as soon as I calm my furniture down.
Evil dead - An independent horror that involves five friends staying in a cabin for the night until they un-knowingly unleash the deadites by playing a cassette that reads of the book of the dead, "centuries old, inked in blood, bound in human flesh." The movie is very disturbing and ends with a stop motion scene of gore and shocks . An ultimate classic, 10/10
Dead by dawn - Starts with a 15 min remake of the first to help the new charecteristics of Ash, a chainsaw wielding bad-*ss who puts up with another night with the deadites, his right hand and the evil ash that lives in him. The daughter of the researcher on the cassettes has found Ash and has the last pages of the necronomicon Another classic, 10/10.
Army of darkness - Some fans see this as a let-down, but others incuding myself think it's one-liners, slapstick and incredible action scenes. Ash has accidently time traveled to 1300 AD Englund were he must rid the kingdom of the deadites, collect the necronomicon, defeat bad ash and get back to his own time. A strange sequel but classic again, 10/10
Hail to the king of horror trilogys or swallow this!
