After reading about Hazel Courteney's fascinating spiritual journey in 'Divine Intervention' I couldn't wait to read her new book 'The Evidence for the Sixth Sense'.
Hazel goes to extraordinary lengths to find answers to those all important burning questions in the world of spirituality. She writes with such honesty and attention to detail that I really felt as if I were on the journey with her.
Hazel's book is both compelling and exhilarating. A 'must read' for anyone on a spiritual journey of their own, or even just a curiosity in the growing world of the spiritual life of the human soul. Hazel tells it how it really is."

This truly wonderful book is like a bridge of light that connects the world of science to the world of healing and miracles. Like many people who are interested in, and practise the healing arts, I now have a means backed up by the scientific world, that explains how this energy works.
In the past we have had to trust in our faith that life after death, the power of prayer, positive thought, enlightened spiritual masters and the ability of some to see the past and future was 'real'. Times are changing as the consciousness of more and more people is being raised - who would ever have guessed the role that so many world renowned scientists would play?
A huge debt of gratitude to Hazel Courteney for being the one to bring these seemingly disparate realities together in one book. Not only is it well written and thoroughly researched but it is so obvious that Hazel's heart and soul shines through every word. All I can say - along with many others like me AT LAST!

I once again have to congratulate Hazel Courteney for her courage and honesty. She has tackled a subject that is controversial and huge in it's content and has brought it to the reader in such a beautifully inspiring and accessible way. She is so very thorough in her research and yet the light of her love shines through so clearly. This is what sets her book apart from others along similar lines. The information has been transformed from coldly clinical into something that absolutely touched my heart. Thank you for managing to put into words a world that we mostly battle to even dream of.

This book is a must read. I couldnt put it down and am constantly rereading parts of the book to inspire me. The book covers many issues on healing with lots of references to websites which i found prolonged the enjoyment of this read. Everything that Hazel says is complimented with scientific evidence which is encouraging for those of us who have always wondered that little bit more about life and what comes next!

Excellent!

The Evidence for the Sixth Sense by Hazel Courteney, Cico Books, London, 2005, 272 ff

This is an essentially autobiographical account of the spiritual emergency - or perhaps near-death experience - of the author in April 1998 and the investigations she pursued to try to come to some understanding of what had happened to her. Courteney had the advantage of having been a professional journalist at the time working on a prestigious British newspaper, The Sunday Times, for which she wrote a column about psychic phenomena called Witch Hazel. She had sufficient experience and authority therefore to be able to contact prominent researchers in various fields in order to interview them for publishable material. The sixteen chapters of this book are therefore accounts of these meetings and what she has learned.

Like Lynne McTaggart, who undertook a similar expedition to produce her best-selling book, The Field, she is not a scientist herself so Hazel explains everything in laywoman's language. Those whom Hazel interviews include primarily the well-known afterlife and psychic investigators Gary Schwartz and Stanislav Grof. In fact, she participated in psychic experiments with Schwartz. Also in this book Hazel makes much of her spiritual connection with Diana, Princess of Wales.

The book is written in a very easily readable and accessible style, as if Hazel was talking to you. If you want to know something about current research into psychic phenomena and how we interact with the cosmic spirit that many consider divine, then this is a book for you. If you read his book with an open mind, there is much to learn and much more to investigate further, though there is no bibliography and no index to the book.
