This book contains a lot of sound advice for church organists. It explains very clearly the rules and regulations, including the Canon Law, regarding the employment of church organists - very useful when dealing with some of the clergy and PCC's!!!

The only book I've come across to deal with all the nitty gritty an organist needs to deal with but doesn't necessarily get taught in music lessons. Equally useful for clergy to read for an insight into how to work with organists and other church musicians.

This is, in my opinion, a really good resource for any church organist. The organist / choir master role can sadly sometimes be a bit of a minefield and this book recognises and helps find solutions for common problems.

The chapters include:

* Fees and Budgets
* Copyright
* Protecting our Children
* Tax
* Health and Safety
* Everything Else

I was sent this book after encountering problems with the vicar and his take on church organists. It is well written and helped me to find a path through the issue of employed / not employed. One of the authors, Barry Williams is a lawyer and the book can therefore be trusted to have trustworthy and informative information with regard to legal issues.

Essentially the whole book is an interesting read, probably particularly to either those encountering problems for whatever reason with regard to their role or else those who are fairly new to the world of church organist.
