5.0 out of 5 stars A well written book. What a breath of fresh air. 9 Jun. 2015
By Ms Ro - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
I've read all the books in this series and I'm really looking forward to more. This, like the others, kept my attention, characters felt real, although, the main character seemed a little over the top. Still, I liked her and her motivations were easy to understand and sympathize with. The writing itself was excellent, which seems to be a rarity these days. And each book was an actual book LENGTH instead of the novellas I've been finding lately. (I blame things like NANOWRIMO for that.)

I have nits. Not big enough to cost a star, but nits all the same. One is the author's frequent reminder of how many years she and her sister have been on the move. Yes, yes we get it. I got to a point when she mentioned it my mind said "say it with me, kids..."

Second is, finding out in THIS book, a major flaw in the main character that I felt should have been mentioned previously. It puts several of her actions in perspective. While each book has a stand-alone story, this is the only one that tells that important detail about the main character.

Third, three books and I'm still a little confused as to what exactly is the deal with her step-father. He's important, that's clear, but she makes him sound dangerous and as to why, I never did quite get that.

The last nit is America bashing, but I can live with that as it was only the main character's personal point of view and that's just being in character.

All in all, job well done, Ms Patterson.

editing to add this PS. I just realized this book is labeled Book 2, but after reading Book 1, I came across the Prequel and read that before I read this one. Thus, to me, this is the third book. Apologies for any confusion.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Backstory Development on Drusilla and Stevie 21 Aug. 2014
By D A Bale - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Once again, an intriguing read from Ms. Patterson. In this installment, we get more behind the scenes of what happened to Drusilla and Stevie that sent them on the run at such tender ages - and it will dredge up much anger toward their sorry excuse of a sperm donor.

The mystery takes a bit of a backseat here and was surprisingly easy to piece together. After reading the first two, I'd expected to engage my brain matter a little more, but the story overall was still an entertaining read. Good showing instead of telling. However, in this one I noticed a few editing boo-boo's, which surprised me given the previous two were so clean. Just a few minor things, but that won't stop me from reading this series.

I look forward to continuing with the next release and will definitely watch for it.
4.0 out of 5 stars The more Ms. Patterson writes, the more I want to read. 8 July 2014
By E. Roske - Published on Amazon.com

Anyone who read my review for Ms Patterson's first book, You Know Who I Am, knows that I encouraged people to buy and read that book so she would continue to write more books about Drusilla Thorne. Apparently enough people did and we are rewarded with Everybody Takes The Money. And I am not disappointed. Good writers get better the more they write and Ms. Patterson has shown that to be true. Everybody Takes The Money is an exciting book and Drusilla is back in her usual snarky, man-are-objects-to-be-desired-or-scorn, I can kick your ass attitude. She gets in over her head and then pummels her way out and to a solution, that you didn't see coming. The book moves with fluidity and I was up past my normal bedtime each night until I'd reached the end.
The writing is crisp, the detail is wonderful clear and precise. Drusilla is, well, she's Drusilla, and you just need to sit down, buckle up, and hold on.
So, now, everybody read this one, too. Ms. Patterson may have written a sequel, but I want book 3. Book 3! Book 3! Book 3!
5.0 out of 5 stars Kick Ass and Take Names - Loved it! 5 Aug. 2014
By Kindle Customer - Published on Amazon.com

I absolutely love kick ass heroines. Drusilla is that and more. She has a smart younger sister. Drusilla can't read. Her sister is mega smart. Together they compliment each other in their abilities and lack. This was book three. Her family has finally caught them. She can't hide any more. Dear on step Dad is making her overcome her inability to read. The family wants her back with one exception, little sister has to be let go. Where ever she goes, trouble follows. I love how she doesn't do anything and boom she involved in a murder. Can't wait to read another story.

Dear Author, I'm waiting for number 4.
5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner! 9 Jan. 2015

I really like this series. Of course, I started with "Book 1", You Know Who I Am. At least that's how Amazon has labeled it on its Kindle page. I have not read The Sound of Footsteps. There is always a lot going on in this book, but I found it easy to keep up with everything. I like Dru. She may not be the most likable character, but I find her flaws truthful. I love her toughness and kick butt attitude. I thought I knew who-done-it, but I didn't and I like that it isn't predictable. I'm very interested to see where this series will go!
