We wait a long time for Samantha Young to release anything but when she does it's so worth it! ... it's been a 6 month wait for this 2nd book in this fabulous (Harts Boardwalk) series.
As we get more and more caught up in the Hartwell way of life and all it's wonderful characters you can't help but feel as if you want to go and walk down that Boardwalk, spend a few nights at Hart's Inn and frequent a few of those establishments. This is Samantha Young doing what she does best... she did the same thing with the (On Dublin Street) series and I absolutely love it.
We were teased with Bailey and Vaughn at the end of (The One Real Thing) but their story didn't open up with that actual snippet, we were kept waiting on that part.
I loved how Bailey and Vaughn bounced off each other, they were a perfect match, just a shame it took them so long but that gave us their perfect story and it was packed full of just about everything. The build-up and hesitantion to every scene which there were plenty of.. I thought was fantastic and with 368 pages nothing was rushed, you have plenty of time to get involved with the whole storyline.
Bailey sister Vanessa was unbelievable, she caused a real stir and was a little unpredictable but it was the last 10% of this story that got you on the edge of your seat... like I said the build is brilliant.
Loved the epilogue it was everything and turned out just the way we wanted it too... but there are still plenty of loose ends to tie up, we've been left wondering, what is Jack Devlin up to and then we need Emery and Dahlia story... we've been well and truly teased and need to be put out of our misery.
There has to be more stories in this series simply because of all the characters we've gotten to know but who will be next??
Please hurry.!!
Thank you.!

This is the second instalment in Samantha Young's new Hart's Boardwalk series. I very much enjoyed the first book, The One Real Thing, and was eagerly anticipating this story, I wasn't disappointed. If anything, I'd say I enjoyed this a little more than the first.

We got a glimpse of the main characters, Vaughn and Bailey in the first book. I enjoyed their dynamic immediately. They had a hate type banter going on between them that flew off the pages. I had a feeling that it was hiding other emotions underneath however, and was keen to read more. It was great to be in their heads and understand more about them.

Bailey is happy in her own skin and content with her life. She runs her family inn in a small town where everyone knows everyone and has a comfortable, if not particularly exciting life with her long time boyfriend. Things were about to take an unpleasant and unexpected turn and she finds herself facing a fresh start. Enter Vaughn. The super wealthy and pretty arrogant hotelier who Bailey feared initially was going to destroy her home town with over development but now genuinely seems to like the place. Much to Bailey's confusion and suspicion.

They were both fantastic, well developed characters. Actually I think Vaughn is probably one of the most complicated characters I've read about for a long time. This is actually one of my favourite things about Samantha Young's books. She is exceptionally talented at writing very good, three dimensional characters. They are multi faceted and, most importantly, they are believable. They are not always perfect and you can see them evolve as the story unfolds. I loved reading how Bailey and Vaughn's characters grew and enjoyed being part of their journey. especially Vaughn.

I already knew i would love this book and the characters in them when i read book one. Its a different paced lifestyle to what we are used to but thats what makes it seem so real. The people are genuine and caring about each other. I liked the push and pull between bailey and vaughn the banter and animosity. It was lovely to see how they developed their relationship. There scenes were off the scale when they finally got down to it. Loved it.

Main characters: Bailey Hartwell, feisty and warm-hearted owner of Hart’s inn. Vaughn Tremaine, successful hotelier and an enigma Bailey can’t decipher.

Why you should read it: I have been looking forward to this book since finishing book 1, The One Real Thing. Bailey was an interesting character in it and she remained just as engaging in this story. She’s bold, fearless and brave, yet deep down she’s as gooey as a brownie. (eh? I mean she’s soft on the inside.) She’s drawn to Vaughn in a way she can’t explain – they tear strips off each other, yet can’t seem to leave each other alone. Vaughn is a cool customer – in book 1 he’s the in-control businessman. To see him come undone by Bailey is truly satisfying. Their chemistry was strong and their exchanges are very entertaining.

What you might not like: Not much. I was worried there’d be too much angst and back and forth between Vaughn and Bailey, but this is Samantha Young writing another entertaining and romantic story, full of twists with yet more intriguing peripheral characters. I want more characters and more books in this series!

Rating: 4/5 for a satisfyingly sexy read. I’m beginning to love the seaside town of Hartwell.
