- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 27 May 2014I thoroughly enjoyed this book and recommend it wholeheartedly. I'm not going to spoil the read in any way except to say that it is very well written and flows well from beginning to end.

The Rise of Mallory is easily the best book in the series so far, and in my eyes a fitting end to all the character’s story. I understand that there is still 1 (at least) book(s) to be written and published but I love the way that this book was concluded and while it’s unusual for me to stop a series half way through to me it has been concluded in the most satisfying way. Even with minor plotlines still left open.
It wasn’t just the ending that made this the best book, but I finally felt true connections to the characters which was something I’d not realised how much I’d missed. This then helped the pace as well as increasing my interest. There was a also lot less time spent on scheming and more on the results of the plans. Of course there was still a lot, especially with Mallory who played a much bigger part than before.
With him comes disaster for Owen as he faces yet another life-changing decision. To choose between his original goal for which he sacrificed so much, and remembering the beautiful shreds of happiness he found in such a low time; his decision won’t be easy.
They never have been, in this captivating series.

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 16 May 2015Now that I've completed this book, I have looked at some of the other reviews, because I like to compare my thoughts with others. It's hard to know what to add that is different, but I'll do that and come back with a more detailed review. In summary - a great fantasy that introduced me to the world Roy Huff has created - actually two worlds.

Another well written book in the Everville series but I think that this is the best so far (the other two are great but this one is even better). If you love travel between alternate universes and science fiction, then you're sure to love this book and the first two in the series. Sorry, no spoilers from me, check it out for yourself.
Book loverReviewed in the United States on 21 January 20145.0 out of 5 stars The Rise of Mallory delivers another fun adventure in the third book of the Everville series!
In The Rise of Mallory, the newest book in the Everville series, the epic journey continues with another battle to save Everville and Earth. Truths are revealed about Owen and his friends while more interesting creatures are introduced and the lines between good and evil are blurred. The battle escalates into a breathless climax leaving just enough for readers to anticipate more for future books in the series.
What I enjoyed is Huff's ability to seamlessly tie in the earthly world and then throw the reader into the fantasy world where mystical and magical creatures live. When I was reading the Everville series, it reminded me vaguely of A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle with young adventurers on a crusade to an unknown magical place.
Young readers, or anyone who likes fantasy adventures, will be entertained with this exciting series. Many questions from the previous books will be answered and fans of the Everville series will be pleased with the third installment.
Sheila DeethReviewed in the United States on 21 September 20184.0 out of 5 stars Fitting conclusion to a storyline, and promise of more to come
With references back to characters and events of the previous books, Everville the Rise of Mallory is a fitting conclusion to the storyline begun in The First Pillar. The stories are best read in sequence though, and the story continues with the Fall of Brackenbone and, hopefully, more to come.
Complex world (and multiverse) building, with fascinating alien species, epic battles, great good and great evil characterize these novels, together with wise understanding of human nature. Arrogance is a weakness and patience a truly surprising strength, especially when applied to time-travel. Meanwhile rules set up behind the scenes keep everything in order, even when the evil Mallory begins his own re-creation so very coolly described.
The lessons learned in this tale are wise. The story’s exciting. And the resolution, though a little hurried, is genuinely satisfying. There’s lots of potential for more stories and “myths” in this series, and I would certainly read them.
Disclosure: I bought it on a deal and I enjoyed it.
crazypuceReviewed in the United States on 3 December 20145.0 out of 5 stars Definitely my favorite book of the series
Definitely my favorite book of the series.
I just couldn't put this book down.
There is a lot happening in Everville and on Earth and Owen is going to take you through a long journey to understand the Third Pillar of Truth.
All the little things bugging me in the previous books of the series have disappeared, making this book my absolute favorite.
I love how we don't dig into the characters all that much, but are instead allowed to follow them as they try to understand what is happing. I also like how Owen is growing more confident and more able to do things on his own instead of relying too much on people back on Earth.
The fact that there is a lot going on in so many different places made this book a delight of complexity, but was at the same time easy to read which is a proof of the author's hard work as that sort of narrative is very difficult to efficiently put off.
The test the Third Pillar gave to Owen was also a very good one. I know I complained about the previous one but this one was really incredible and unexpected. And the reward for it was also on that order of magnitude which made me very happy.
Seriously, I can't wait to read book four.
Sandra K. StilesReviewed in the United States on 22 June 20155.0 out of 5 stars Great Third Book in the Series
As always Roy Huff has done an excellent job with this third story in his series. In this third book we find Owen Sage, the hero trying to protect both his world and teh world of Everville from Mallory. If he fails it could mean the destruction of people, animals and other creatures in both worlds. He is not alone in this effort. He has the help of Zee and Anika. Like his other books this book is fast paced filled with twists and turns. His world building as always is great. He seems to be able to create our world and the world of Everville so they flow together. If you haven't read this series yet I would suggest you begin it. His next book will be out very soon.
